Safety, trust & environment

I have a large backyard with 6' fencing and plenty of places to run and hide while I am hosting other dogs. My two dogs are dog friendly but sometimes it can take some time. During boarding I separate all the dogs during feeding and when I am out of the house for a least 24 hours until I see everyone is comfortable. With dog walks and drop ins, your pets have my undivided attention. I am constantly looking and listening with 360 degrees. Note: I do not walk when there's lightning in the area (rain and snow are fine). I love looking after Cats, they are a puzzle that requires attention to detail and patience. I meet cats where they are and do everything possible to not stress them and to make our time together a positive experience.

Information Steve S. would like to know about your pet

1) Leash reactivity is fine with me. Just let me know and I will do my best to avoid the triggers. 2) How does the dog do in rain? Do they refuse to get wet? Do they love it? What about thunder or fireworks? 3) For meet and greets, please recreate the environment where I will find the pet when during the visit. In other words, if you crate your dog while away please have them crated for the meet and greet, so I can see how they react (of course I do want to meet them outside of the crate as well) 4) Most importantly please let me know how to make our visits fun and safe for your dog/cat.

A typical day

My favorite places to walk are any park or greenspace in the area. I also bring along a bottle of cold water and a bowl during those really hot days. We try to walk in the shade where possible. If your cat is into laser pointers let me know. I have my own that I can bring to play with them.

Pet care experience

UPDATED Policy: For drop in requests when you are out of town, here are my minimum visits per 24 hour period: Dogs (crated): Four visits Dogs (free roam): Three visits Cats (social/friendly): Two visits Cats (shy/anxious): one visit ~~~~~ Your dog deserves some time outside. I want to be that person to bring some fun in the sun (or rain/snow) for your companion in chief. I have been around dogs all my life. I grew up taking care of a Lhasa Apso (15 lbs) and lived and cared for a few other smaller dogs throughout my life. I currently have two dogs, a Labrador and a Staffordshire terrier (you can imagine the shedding), and I love walking them and exploring the city together. I have experience using prong collars, ecollars, gentle leaders, and harnesses. My Lab is not a dog park type of dog, and that's okay we have plenty of fun exploring and playing fetch. My staffy is a strong puller and has big reactions to other dogs on leash. I meet dogs and cats where they are and prioritize their safety and welfare with compassion. I know one size does not fit all. Whatever you want me to with your pup or cat just let me know. I want them to have a good time and will treat him/her just like my own. Note: My dogs will not accompany me during rover booked walks. Medicine? No problem. I regularly administer ear drops, have done injections, ointments etc. Solo play? Can do. Over the years with my own dogs, I've learned to recognize body language when a dog looks uncomfortable, anxious, fearful or just wants to play. Let's just have fun.

Steve had great communication and I loved getting the updates and pictures. My cats are older and both need medication - he was flexible in finding a new way to get the medication to the very shy cat who did not want to be caught - and communicated all of this through the app so I did not have any concerns.

Steve and Jesse were great pet sitters and took such good care of our cat Kodak. They took lots of pictures and left very detailed care notes after each drop in visit. Kodak was well fed, groomed, and engaged with during the entire time we were away. I highly recommend Steve and Jesse and will definitely be using their services in the future.

Steve did a phenomenal job watching my boys! I let him know that I was nervous leaving them for so long, and he made sure to spend time with them to get them acclimated. The updates I received were always a fun read, and a few had me laughing. Pretty sure G Money and Jonah accepted him as their third bro.
