Pro Trainer - Boutique Boarding

Hi, I’m Steve—an accredited dog-trainer and boutique boarder. I work from home, so guest pups hang out under a trainer’s eye instead of waiting for the end of a 9-to-5. My specialty is relationship-based training that gives dogs thoughtful “decision points,” helping them stay calm, confident, and mentally satisfied. 🏠 Home & Pack Room to roam: Quiet cul-de-sac house with a fully-fenced yard and covered patio. Resident role-model: -Captain (8 yr Rat Terrier × Staffy) – the polite greeter who keeps anxious dogs at ease. 🌟 Boarding Style Small group stays—enough canine company for healthy social time, never a crowd. Structured enrichment tailored to each dog’s energy and comfort level. Comfortable spots for crate-trained snoozers or couch-cuddlers—your dog chooses. ➕ Optional Training Add-On Want to polish leash manners or calm reactivity while you’re away? We can layer customized training sessions into the stay and follow up with coaching after pick-up. Just mention it during the meet-and-greet and I’ll quote the add-on in Rover for your approval. ✅ Setting Your Dog Up for Success 1. Meet-and-greet at my place – see the set-up, let your dog meet Captain. 2. Bring the familiar: food, specialty bowl, collar/leash, and a favorite bed/blanket or crate. 3. Skip the clutter: toys and generic bowls—we’ve got plenty here. 4. Nervous first-timer? Book a day-care preview so drop-off day feels like a reunion, not a leap of faith. I’m comfortable hosting dogs with mild reactivity or special boarding needs—just shoot me a message with the details and we’ll craft a plan that keeps everyone relaxed and happy. Looking forward to meeting you and your pup!

I’ve had an excellent experience working with Steve for puppy training. His professionalism, knowledge and genuine care was evident from our first consultation. My family recently traveled out of state for five days, I felt completely comfortable leaving our pup in his hands. Steve provided daily updates, including photos and videos. It was clear our puppy was well cared for and I love the fact that it is a home environment. I highly recommend Steve to anyone looking for a trustworthy trainer or boarding!

Steve was wonderful! Great communication, and we love the daily (and often multiple times per day!) photos and updates, and we trust our pups are well taken care of. We have two high maintenance huskies, and to be able to take them in AND ensure they get their needs met (and mostly exceeded) is such a relief. Thank you so much!!

Schedule

I work from home Monday–Friday, so guest dogs are woven right into my day—think morning yard time while the coffee brews, brain-game breaks between Zoom calls, and relaxed evening hangouts on the patio. My roommate tags in during my short errands, so there’s rarely more than a couple of hours without a human around. Weekends stay flexible for longer enrichment outings or extra cuddle marathons, depending on your pup’s style.

Safety, trust & environment

Tucked at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, my home has a secure 6-ft fence and a roomy 12 × 20 ft covered patio, so Oregon rain never steals fresh-air time. Resident “ambassador” Captain—a mellow, dog-savvy 7-year-old terrier mix—welcomes newcomers and models polite play. All guests dine in separate zones and get their own chill-out spots to keep mealtimes peaceful. Pups who breeze through dog-park greetings thrive here, and while every age and size is welcome, silver-snouted seniors get extra cushy beds and slow, mindful enrichment because grey muzzles have a special place in my heart.

Pets

A typical day

Typical Day, Tailored to Your Dog Mornings start with a backyard sniff-and-stretch while I brew coffee, then breakfast. Throughout my WFH day the yard and 12 × 20 ft covered patio stay open when the weather’s friendly, and I sprinkle in play breaks—fetch, flirt-pole, or gentle sunbathing, depending on the pup. We mix short “sniffari” leash walks to the nearby field for dogs who enjoy exploring, plus quick training games that keep minds busy without over-taxing bodies. Evenings wind down with couch cuddles or a quiet chew, followed by one last backyard patrol under the porch lights. Energy level and age set the pace—your six-month whirlwind will rack up extra ball reps, while your ten-year sage gets slower strolls and plush-bed lounge time.

Social style: Is your dog a “people-first” charmer, a dog-park butterfly, or more of a solo adventurer? Comfort cues: Do they melt for belly rubs, prefer brief pats, or have “no-fly zones” like hips or paws? Stress triggers & red lines: Loud noises, fast kids, food bowls, doorbells—what flips the switch from calm to cranky? Soothing recipe: Favorite word, treat, or routine that brings them back to zen if they get nervous. Current training focus: Any cues or manners you’re polishing that I can reinforce during their stay. Health quirks: meds, allergies, sensitive tummy, or anything the vet has you watching. The more detail you give, the better I can tailor play, rest, and training so your pup feels right at home from minute one.
