Availability
I'm available for weekdays, weekends, and most holidays. My weekends are the most flexible. This availability will change depending on the time of year. If my availability is limited due to my other job requirements, I will let you know. Ideally pets that can be left alone for at least 8 hours are best for me. If I am housesitting, we can discuss if I am staying at your home full time or part time depending on your needs,.however if your home is more than 20KM from my home, I will require it to be my home base to ensure I am available for your pets feeding, play time and walking. Please contact me for more info.

If I am a good candidate for your dog, I would adhere to their needs to ensure proper care and safety. I am comfortable administering oral medication, however I would prefer not to have to inject medication unless your dog is comfortable with me. I would only inject medication after proper time spent with you and your dog so that they are fully comfortable with me. If am housesitting for you, I'm perfectly comfortable with your checks-ins during my time in your home via photos, short video calls, and if you have home surveillance that is not an issue for me. I have nothing to hide, so you're welcome to have cameras and audio. I do ask that you disclose this as well. I trust and respect my clients privacy, and I expect the same considerations to be given to me as well As I have just experienced my first very negative sit with a very manipulative client, I will now require all applicants to complete a short questionnaire to provide me with clarity, and to avoid any confusion or disagreement that could make the sit unpleasant for either one of us. One of my expectations for all house sitting will be a detailed list of people who are approved/not approved to visit/enter the home during your absence, which I will adhere to as well. I would also adhere to your schedule, ensuring that I'm available as per your expectations- but in case of emergency or changes I hope there can be some understanding or flexibility. When outside, if your dog is timid, I would choose stick close to home, or choose paths and areas where strangers and the potential to interact with pets are very limited. As long as the owner is honest regarding their pet's needs and behaviors, I can provide a fun, safe walk for their pooch!

Information Stephen & Robin M. would like to know about your pet
All animals have very different personalities and needs. With the many experiences I've gained since joining Rover, leash comfort, confidence in me, and adjusting walking habits are important factors to consider. I've been lucky to have fairly well-behaved dogs, but a few client dogs have been at times challenging when leashed, as I am not the owner. Your dog may be 100% heeled for you, but when left with a stranger, it's just like kids when the babysitter's back is turned, they tend to push their boundaries or get into moods. Understand that if your dog is challenging for me on leash, I would limit their walks to just within a block of your home, or only do backyard playtime to give them exercise and manage the stress. I want your dogs to be active and happy during their time with me, but sometimes leash behavior can change unexpectedly. I don't believe in yanking or aggressively pulling a collar to control a dog who's having a bad day or decides he/she only wants to listen to mom and dad, so I need owners to understand that a walking routine will vary depending on the dog.
A typical day
If there are certain activities that your dog loves, and you provide the supplies, I can accommodate them. Well-socialized dogs that enjoy being outdoors will work well with me. I'm comfortable with larger dogs as I enjoy being outdoors, so if your dog likes to run, explore trails and get stimulated by sniffing around parks, then that's what we'll be doing in our play time. If your dogs are older or have low energy, then I'll keep the stimulation light. They can nap as much as they want, lounge in the yard with me, or watch me do chores. Whatever their needs and their normal is fine with me.

Pet care experience
Hi, pet people. I am available for Housesitting within Edmonton for up to 1 week at a time. I would love to sit for dogs that crave outdoor activity, such as running, frisbee, and exploring the River Valley. I only take 1 client at a time, so n dog walks, I would avoid interacting with all other dogs to ensure there are no unexpected nips, bites, or unexpected vet bills. I only accept 1 client at a time, so your pet gets my undivided attention, and so that I do not mix animals from different owners to ensure your pet is the priority- and avoid clashes in pet personalities. I've had several family dogs, and consider myself an aware and responsible pet owner. I'm happy to care for animals that require oral and injection medication. As a house sitter I would be happy to provide updates and video calls at your request. Thank you for your time in reading this and considering me for your pets needs. I look forward to hearing from you to discuss your unique need and meet your furry friends. As I walk, run, and bike in the River Valley, I do prefer active outdoor dogs that are well-heeled, have good leash habits, but mostly, just enjoy being outside. There's no such thing as too many sniff breaks. I'm also a fan of cats, and I can take feed/ care for exotic animals as well, such as birds, lizards, and reptiles. I consider myself an effective communicator, and I'm flexible as well, so if you need someone who can be available for your needs, give me a shout, and we can discuss your pets needs. If I'm a good fit for you, then it would be my pleasure to care for your furry or scaly friends. I'm comfortable sitting with dogs for hours if they have anxiety and need to be in the company of a person while you are away. I don't mind if your dog sleeps in the same room with me, or in the same bed. I also have a verified and well rated dog sitter duo named Robin. For dogs with low exercise needs, or separation anxiety, she can fill in any schedule gaps and be an extra back-up sitter if there is an emergency or last minute change. She has her own profile and clients if you wish to view her information.

Reviews

Always a pleasure. Professional, punctual and an all round decent guy who is great with animals.

Stephen was an awesome house/dog sitter while I was away on vacation. He is very responsive, makes sure to follow care instructions to a tea and left our place clean and tidy (plus shovelled the driveway as an extra surprise!) Thanks for taking such great care of our old girl, Stephen!

Wonderful to have Stephen looking after our dog Rosie, once again - this time for 2 weeks while we travelled to Europe! Very trustworthy. Highly recommend.

Stephen took excellent care of our pets and our home. He stayed at our home for just over 3 weeks while we were out of the country and we had complete piece of mind with him taking care of our 3 cats and our dog. Stephen was very responsive and clear with communication. He also ensured that he visited a couple of times before house sitting so that our anxious dog would be more comfortable with him. I completely recommend Stephen for your pet needs!
