In my home, when I brush my teeth I will brush my dogs teeth. When I walk he walks with me. When I nap or exercise, my dog will be with me doing the same thing. This works for us because this is our routine. With dogs in my care, I do my best to maintain the routine they are used to within their home. I find this helps keep them more relaxed and happy when I am with them. I will also keep all activities and encounters within their tolerance level.

When I am walking a dog, I do my best to ensure the dogs physical and mental needs are being met. Physical needs by walking and playtime. Mental needs by socializing and training. Above all this, my #1 priority is safety. I will never put a dog into a situation where they don't feel safe. Also, dog have different needs based on their breed, personality, size and medical condition. Because of this every walk with me will be customized to satisfy their needs in a way that works for them.
Information Stephen D. would like to know about your pet
Things to let me know: Are they fully vaccinated? Any special requests? Any behaviour issues I should know about or can assist with? Any medical issues? Are they scared of objects/sounds/persons? Are they allowed to meet/greet and play with others?
A typical day
I will always do my best to maintain a dog's normal routine for their comfort. Beside standard daily walks and feeding's, other activities I enjoy with dogs are - Hide and seek - Hide the treat - Running around while holding a rope toy to encourage them to follow me. - wrestling/rough play (always being appropriate for the size of dog I’m with and if the dog likes it) - Tug a War with a rope toy (sometimes I find it better then going to a chiropractor)

Pet care experience
I've been a dog training & walking for 10 years, it's what I love to do. Being able to make a difference for a family handle their own dog, improving the dynamics in the home makes me happy. I also enjoy working with kids, helping them gain confidence, letting them know they have the ability to manage and dog breed from small to large. I have a 7yr old special needs child and a 2yr old Pitty/Bully mix (adopted from the Toronto Humane Society) I've taught him to teach our dog basics commands (sit, down, come, paw, go down a slide...etc...)
Reviews
Stephen has been a total game-changer for me and my dog. From day one, he was professional, thoughtful, and clearly passionate about animals. My dog took to him right away—tail wags and happy zoomies every time Stephen shows up! He always keeps me in the loop with great updates, fun pictures, and even little notes about how the walk went. It’s clear he pays close attention and treats every dog like they’re his own. I never have to worry when Stephen is around—I know my pup is in the best hands. If you’re thinking about booking Stephen—do it. He’s reliable, caring, and simply amazing at what he does. Five stars all the way!
Stephen has been walking my dog for a few weeks now, and I can honestly say he’s one of the best dog walkers we’ve ever had. My pup absolutely adores him—and that says a lot, because he can be a bit shy with new people. Stephen’s calm and friendly energy put him at ease right away. He’s always on time, super responsive, and goes the extra mile to make sure my dog gets a fun, safe, and enriching walk. I love the little updates and photos he sends—they give me total peace of mind while I’m at work. I feel so lucky to have found Stephen on Rover. He’s dependable, kind, and truly passionate about what he does. Highly recommend to anyone looking for top-notch care!
Stephen has been an absolute lifesaver for both me and my pup! From the very first walk, I could tell he truly cares about animals—he took the time to learn my dog’s personality, quirks, and even favorite routes. Every walk is filled with care, play, and attention, and I always get detailed updates and the best photos that brighten my day. Stephen is incredibly reliable, communicative, and punctual. Rain or shine, he shows up with a smile and treats my dog like his own. I’ve seen such a positive difference in my pup’s mood and energy since we started working with him. If you’re looking for someone you can completely trust with your fur baby, Stephen is your guy. I honestly can’t recommend him enough!
