Pet care is my main, full time job, so you can count on your pets being my top priority. I am currently working on a course to gain a certification in dog training. (I do not provide training at this time, but may be able to offer it in the future.) I can easily complete some of my coursework from your home with wi-fi access if I'm house sitting. I love all kinds of animals. Most of my experience is with dogs and cats, but I've had a bunny before. I've also gotten to know my roomate's green-cheeked conure recently. I love getting to pet/give ear scritchies to any dog or cat who will let me, and this gives me a chance to do that more often.

Safety, trust & environment
I don't plan on doing pet boarding/day care at my own home. I currently rent, and have two cats who are unfamiliar with dogs, so it isn't possible at this time. I am very careful when it comes to someone else's animal. I make sure to keep an eye on body language, and avoid putting them in an uncomfortable situation. If there is ever a concern (medical or otherwise), then I will bring it to the owner's attention. I am also mindful of doors, especially if the pet is a known escape artist. I've had a few of my own in my lifetime. Also, I will always make sure the home is secure when leaving. I will always love and look out for your pet as if they are my own because pets are family. I typically send updates with photos once or twice a day during sits, or with every Rover Card for walks and drop-ins. If you'd like updates more or less often, just let me know!
Information Stephanie P. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know if there is any training you are working on, what your pet's tolerance is for other animals/people, and if there are any medical/behavioral issues to watch out for. Also let me know if there is any specific routine to follow, or any other things unique to your pet. Keep me updated on food allergies/sensitivities, and if you allow them to have selected people food. Give me a heads up if you have an escape artist and I'll take extra care that they stay where they're supposed to be. I love written instructions, too!
A typical day
For Dogs: We can go on walks and get a bunch of sniffs. We can also play fetch, and run around some off-leash, if a fenced in area is available. Ear scratches and belly rubs are a guarantee if enjoyed. I do not typically transport dogs anywhere in my car unless specifically asked. For Cats: We can play with toys, things on strings, and maybe sample a Churu. We can also just sit around and have some pets if they're not up for playtime. I'm perfectly content sitting by a shy kitty's hiding spot and just giving them some company until they're ready to come out.

Pet care experience
I grew up with dogs, from my mom's 3 lb Pomeranian who learned I would share my snacks as a toddler, all the way up to a pack of 6 when I was in high school. I raised several from puppies, so I know all about puppy mischief. (And who can resist that goofy puppy run or those big puppy paws?) I've also dealt with undesirable behaviors, such as jumping or food/resource guarding. I don't mind taking care of dogs who are still displaying these behaviors, just please make me aware when booking. I am not promising training, but I know how to keep myself and the dog safe. I've taken care of senior dogs who have slowed down and need a little more attention or accommodation. I can administer oral or topical meds, but not injections. I also don't mind shy or nervous dogs. I'm perfectly content taking a little extra time to let your pup get to know and trust me. Please let me know at the meet and greet if your dog is nervous or reactive in certain situations so I can keep us both safe. While I've never had a pittie (or adjacent breed) before, the ones I've met have been the sweetest. I firmly believe in judging the dog, not the breed. Please note: I am no longer able to provide constant care as I have several regular drop-ins throughout the week. As long as I am able to leave for ~4 hours at a time, I can accommodate extended care. I'm willing to consider other needs on a case-by-case basis, but it may result in a price increase for overnight sits.

Reviews

We're so grateful that Stephanie could stay with our dog and cat while we were away. Our cat especially, has only been with us 9 months and was in shelters before that so we were worried she'd feel abandoned. Stephanie took excellent care of both of them and our home, too.
First time we had Stephanie. Very reliable, animals were very happy, and we could enjoy are time away knowing they were in good hands!!

Stephanie is great --;kind, reliable, and my dogs adore her!
I came home to two happy and healthy pets. Communication and photos every day of my trip. Stephanie is my new go to. Thanks Stephanie!
