Availability
I'm currently a PhD student, just entering my writing up phase of my PhD (so I have about 4-5 months of purely working from home!) so I'm happy to come out prior to working, at lunchtime and in the evening to look after your pets.

I'll ensure your pet is well looked after and loved beyond belief. Because that's exactly how I would treat my own pets. I've had a lot of experience over the years from my own cat, Pearl, and now 7 years of cat sitting to litters of puppies up to elderly and chronically poorly dogs so I can handle any situation that may arise with love and care. All whilst keeping you informed and giving you peace of mind.
Information Sophie S. would like to know about your pet
Let me know if there's anything I should avoid with your pet and any issues I should be aware of like chronic illness. Also very important to have those vet details, just in case!
A typical day
I'll ensure your pet has lots of attention and is well cared for. Typically I start by sorting food, water and litter so then we can have fun. If your pet has a favourite toy, let me know and I can make sure your pet has plenty of playtime! For cats, I adapt to the cat, I'm very happy to cuddle cuddly kitties or play with cats with lots of pent up energy, but equally some cats need their space and I can keep them company. For dogs, we'd walk to nearby places, like Chiswick house or Dukes Meadows. I like to run as well so I can definitely keep up with high energy dogs. Equally, I'm very happy to walk and chill with lots of regular stops for those dogs who need it.

Pet care experience
Hi! My name is Sophie, I'm 30 and a virologist! This is now my secondary income as I'm a PhD student 😊 I love all animals but especially cats and dogs. I'm from Cornwall and live on a farm where we had cats for all my childhood years and my own kitty, Stewie, was a gorgeous grey cat with blue eyes. We had cats from when I was born to the age of 12, I also worked in a cattery for 3 years and gave personal care and attention to each and every cat. I had dogs from birth (as both my parents were farmers in Cornwall) so we always had dogs. From terriers to collies to spaniels! I had my own collie from the age 7 to 19 then two springers from age 15 to just last year sadly. Now my husband and I live in a maisonette that's just a bit too small for a dog (although we do have a cat). So now I offer drop in visits and walks for dogs near me! My own cat is called Pearl! She's a British shorthair and is helping me brush up on my cat caring skills! She's a little princess and very fussy so helped me raise my care giving bar even higher. I've been running my little cat sitting side business for 7 years now and in that time I've taken care of all sorts of cats and for many different time frames, from 1 day up to 7 weeks. All pets are unique and I always tailor my care to your pet, whether that's playing lots with a high energy pet or giving them space and time to warm up to me. I can administer pills and tablets but not injections as I'm not trained. I'm available for a meeting or telephone call beforehand as I know how difficult it can be to entrust your baby to a stranger. I can also look after other animals like rabbits and guinea pigs so long as I'm given a run down of any specific care for other animals more than happy to help out, always! A summary of what you'll get by booking me: - photos/video and an update for every visit - a minimum 30 minute visit (this is usually longer (max 45 minutes) however if you would like longer but not a full overnight stay this can be arranged) - all special care instructions followed including medication administration and any other specific instructions - care for other animals (may require negotiation if it's a major extra commitment) - a clean and tidy home to return to - post collected and plants taken care of - plus any extra requests before the end of the cat sitting (I've even done Easter egg hunts!) - if there's any emergencies I will handle them and keep you informed every step of the way to minimise stress for you. I will transcribe everything a vet says to yourself and happy to await your decision unless there is dire emergency in which case I will make the best possible decision for your kitty as if they were my own. I will pay vet bills personally and await repayment from yourself or I can collect an invoice from the vet for you. Small note about fees on Rover (especially after Cat in a Flat integration): CIAF used to charge a 19% sitter fee and a minimal fixed rate booking charge. Unfortunately, Rover charge a bit more so my prices (although the same as they were on CIAF for me) are higher. I chose £18 per drop-in as my take home (after Rover's sitter fee of 15%) is £15.30. But Rover also charge a 15% booking fee on top of the £18 so owners will see £21 per drop in. I hope this clarifies the charges for Rover regulars and those new to Rover from CIAF alike! If you book with me regularly, I'll be sure to ensure fixed rates from your first booking 😊

Reviews
Sophie is fantastic - the cats love her, and so do we.

Sophie has been excellent. So lovely for meet and greet and looked after my cats so well they had a great time. Will definitely use her services again! 🤩🙌🏾

Sophie is absolutely amazing with our social kitty Daisy, who gets a little stressed when we leave. Would 100% recommend to anyone :)
Thank you so much, Sophie! The communication was great and just put us at ease straight away.
