I also make sure I have the vet’s info and emergency contacts, just in case. It’s important for me to understand their personality, quirks, and how they act around other animals or people, as well as their usual exercise routine, potty schedule, and bedtime habits. I also ask about house rules, safety details like fences or doors to watch, and whether they’re allowed on furniture so I can keep their routine as close to normal as possible.

A typical day of house sitting pets starts with morning feedings, fresh water, and a walk or playtime to get their energy out. Midday includes potty breaks, interactive play with toys, and a bit of cuddle or grooming time to keep them happy. In the afternoon, I’ll take them on a longer walk or spend time outdoors if allowed, then check on the house by watering plants or bringing in mail. Evenings are for dinner, another round of play or exercise, and winding down with snuggles so they feel comfortable. Before bed, I do a final potty break, make sure everything is secure, and settle the pets in for the night.
