Pet care experience

Caring dog sitter who loves nature

Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of caring for a wide range of dogs, each with their own personalities, needs, and challenges. What began with caring for my cousin’s two Boston Terriers—one dog-reactive and both high-energy—has grown into a well-rounded background in pet care that includes medical needs, long term boarding, and behavioral support. Last summer I boarded a sweet Golden Retriever named Rio for two weeks. Rio has epilepsy and required daily medication twice a day. During his stay, he had a seizure, and I followed the owner’s protocol to ensure his safety and comfort. This experience taught me how to stay calm and attentive in unexpected situations while still providing loving, routine care. Whether it’s senior dogs, pups with medical needs, or high-energy companions, I feel confident in my ability to adjust my care to fit each dog’s physical, emotional, and behavioral needs. My goal is always to create a calm, positive, and safe experience—for both the dog and the owner.

Schedule

I’m currently a first year Biomedicine Bachelor student and dedicate my holidays and free time to dogsitting. I will be continuing my studies in January so until then, I have a completely flexible schedule, which allows me to offer attentive, consistent care throughout the day. Outside of pet care, I volunteer at my church and am working towards getting my drivers license, but I’m able to plan those around my pet sitting responsibilities. Because I limit the number of dogs I take care of at once, each pet gets my full attention. Whether they need early morning potty breaks, daily walks, or overnight care, I’m committed to being present and available for your pet.

Safety, trust & environment

Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my top priorities. I maintain a clean, dog-friendly home environment where all food, medication, and cleaning products are stored securely out of reach. I also regularly tidy and sanitize pet areas to ensure a healthy and safe space. When walking dogs, I keep them leashed unless we’re in a fully enclosed dog park and it’s safe to allow off-leash time. I’m especially mindful of dog reactivity and always take precautions to avoid unnecessary stress or risky interactions. In emergency or unexpected situations—like Rio’s seizure—I stay calm, follow protocol, and immediately communicate with the owner. Whether your pet is staying with me or I’m visiting your home, I treat them with the same care and awareness I’d give my own family dog. I’m happy to follow specific routines, respect house rules, and provide updates so you always feel connected and at ease.

A typical day

Each day is structured to fit the needs and preferences of the dog I’m caring for. I usually begin with a morning potty break and breakfast, followed by a light walk or play session. Throughout the day, I adjust our activities based on the dog’s age, energy level, and medical needs. For active dogs like Stella, this might mean a midday walk, mental enrichment games, or some backyard fetch. For older dogs like the Cocker Spaniel I’m currently boarding, I provide more gentle activities and lots of cuddle time. I keep feeding times consistent, administer medications as needed, and always allow time for rest between stimulation. You’ll receive regular updates with photos and notes, so you can stay in the loop and see how your pup is doing during their stay or visit.

To provide the best care possible, I like to know in advance: • Medical conditions, allergies, or medications • Feeding schedule and any food sensitivities • Behavioral quirks or triggers (e.g. reactivity, chewing, separation anxiety) • How your dog interacts with other dogs and people • Preferred commands, crate routines, or house training practices I always aim to mirror your dog’s normal routine and provide a smooth, low-stress transition. The more I know, the more I can tailor their care to make them feel safe, happy, and loved while you’re away.
