Extra Care and Love

My name is Sophia and I am a lover of all animals. I currently care for two cats who are the lights of my life, and in the past have had a range of dogs/cats in my life. I am studying my certificate IV Companion Animal Services and volunteer regularly at my local SPCA taking in rescues on fostering basis so I feel like I’ve really experienced it all when it comes to our furry friends— which means I’m equip to handle it all!! I have extensive experience with different medical conditions and senior care so I am equip to distribute medicine as well as fulfill specific medical regimes. I’m more than verse with our Covid pup babies who need that extra bit of coddling and have acquired great coping skills for calming those anxieties and easing those stresses whilst in my care. I live very close to Sherwood Gardens and Stony Run Trail so your fur baby and I will definitely be taking full advantage of the beautiful weather when we can and enjoying those areas for walks or play! It’s also a very dog friendly community where I live which is wonderful and I have ample backyard and front yard space as well for quick outings. Inside my home they will have an array of toys I provide and places to sleep and play (really they are welcome to everything!!!), while always experiencing care and attention 24/7 when I’m with them. While they’re with me my home is theirs and their happiness is my top priority and I wouldn’t want it any other way, anything you can think of that would make a stay more cozy or have more questions about details of a stay with me please never hesitate to let me know how I can better accomodate your family or reach out!! 😊 Leaving a piece of family behind whether it be for a trip or work is always hard, my goal is to be a safe haven of comfort for families- providing the peace and ease of always knowing your pet is safe and will be treated as if they were my own whilst in my home.💕

My two senior pups stayed with Sophia for 4 nights and she was great with them. They both take medicine & one is extremely wary of new people/places. She did everything she could to make him comfortable and let them go at their own pace. She kept me updated with how they were eating and was very accommodating when our flight pushed back out pickup time by 2 hours. We will book with her again!

Schedule

I’ve been a sitter for years and one thing I’ve gotten really good at is balancing my own personal schedule with providing the best care possible. Currently beyond pet sitting I work a part time job (3 days a week) in the evening usually 12:30pm-9pm. A day with me on this schedule usually starts at about 7am when we wake up and go on a walk and eat breakfast and enjoy some morning snuggle/play time together. I make sure the house is cozy and well prepared for anything that could happen while I’m away (also if provided can also crate whilst I’m gone but I personally prefer not to unless requested by owner) as well as have cameras in the house to always be keeping a close eye whilst I’m away but I find most of my furry friends usually sleep while I’m gone. Your pet is treated as if they are my own when in my care and I always pay the finest attention I can to them as I recognize the stresses they are already in being away from home. I try my best to book around my work schedule as well as sometimes bring pets to work if they are well behaved and good with it. Days off away from work are my favorite as it gives me all the time to spend with them and give all the love and attention they require and deserve and I’m lucky to be home pretty often. Whether it be an active day outside or playing with toys in the house or a day cuddled up on the couch watching movies, I’d love to provide the comfort of knowing that they will always be safe whilst in my care. Feel free to send me a message and we can talk about what my schedule will look like during specific boarding times and what I can accommodate! Look forward to hearing from you and meeting your family 😊

Safety, trust & environment

In my home your pets comfort is my top priority. I live in a beautiful 3 bedroom apartment in Pen Lucy in a very lush and family oriented/dog neighborhood so there’s lots of grass all around and I have all the space inside to accomodate!! With this to note though I do live on the second floor and there’s two flights of steps your dog would have to be able to go up/down on so wanted to note this for my seniors or pups with bad hips or knees. I allow them on all of my furniture, the only limit to this is my bedroom at night as my cats are just territorial to this and sleep in bed with me usually and I always keep dog/cat separated whilst sleeping for upmost safety. If this is an issue we can definitely discuss other accommodations possible. I have an array of toys all around the house they are welcome to as well as have bowls and bags and such but always appreciate when those items and toys are provided and they are welcomed as they remind them of home and is great way to get them cozy in a new space. I am great with independent animals that just want to keep to themselves as well as our separation anxiety babies who need that extra boost of loving and stick to your side like glue and do my best to cater to what your animal needs at any given moment. I send lots of detailed updates and photos and videos as well with my goal being to provide the most peace of mind as if you never left them at all.

Pets

A typical day

I love to take advantage of their toys and play with them and provide that stimulation as well as take advantage of the local dog parks. If it’s a really nice day I like to go for hikes with dogs who are able and enjoy it. I’m a big movie head so I’m also super down with just napping together watching movies hanging out, really anything your dog wants to do I’m happy to accomodate for!!! I find most just want to be involved in anything you’re doing and I’m more than happy to have your pup accompany me on errands, on a fun brunch outing, or just a morning walk around the neighborhood together!!

For me the best policy is honesty in this business. There’s never too much information you can provide about your furry friend as everything will help a sitter understand them to their best ability and provide the best care. For me it’s crucial to me to know of any behavioral issues such as accidents in the house, excessive barking/jumping, biting/aggression, severe anxiety, history of abuse, and if they have tendencies to damage possessions. It’s all something that can be worked with and does not deter me from providing care but without knowing the information it can put your pet and or your sitter in danger. I also need to know of any health issues or medicines that will need to be distributed ahead of time. All of this information will help notify me of the best way to care for your pet and is super appreciated.
