What the dog NEEDS will always come first. In my opinion, that is the best way to care for a dog. I will always pay attention to their body language, first and foremost. Are they licking their lips when I give me a kiss? Is their tail up and straight when they’re interacting with another dog? Dogs communicate with us every day, a lot of people just don’t know how to read them. I do. When your dog is with me, I’ll always be focused on them.
Information Sophia D. would like to know about your pet
I am flexible with breeds! I have no experience with special needs dogs, but I am open to learning if you’re comfortable with showing me the ropes.
A typical day
Plenty of walks, of course! If I have permission from the owners/ know your dog well, I’d also allow off leash play in gated dog parks. However, this would be carefully monitored! I love doing training with dogs or giving them little tasks, such as hiding treats in blankets. These sensory activities keep them entertained. Throwing balls, tug of war etc is a given!

Pet care experience
Hi, I’m Sophia! I’m 33 and recently relocated to Canada from the UK. I’ve grown up with dogs my entire life and sadly had to leave behind my family dog (and soul dog), Remy. Although I FaceTime him every day, I really miss the company of dogs. They’ve always been my greatest comfort, and honestly, I’m absolutely the annoying person who asks to pet your dog in the street. I’ve spent a lot of time teaching myself about dog body language and behaviour because I think understanding dogs properly is one of the best ways to keep them happy, safe, and comfortable. I pay close attention to whether dogs genuinely feel relaxed with certain interactions, whether that’s cuddles, kisses, or play with other dogs. I can recognize the difference between playful, relaxed behaviour and signs of stress or anxiety. Your dog will get lots of love and affection from me, but I’ll always prioritize what they need first. Whether your dog loves long walks, playtime, sofa cuddles, or just calm company, they’ll get lots of patience, attention, and thoughtful care from me. If I had to choose between saving a human or a dog, the dog is getting saved every time!
Reviews

Sophia was amazing! She took care of our 9 weeks old puppy, it was our first time leaving her with someone else and we felt really comfortable leaving Gigi (our puppy) with her. Gigi loved Sophia right away and they had a great time together. Sophia sent us updates and photos through the evening, which was really reassuring. We will contact Sophia in the future for sure!

Had a great experience! We would definitely book with Sophia again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and communicative sitter.

Sophia is an excellent sitter! She took great care of our old crochety dog. Would recommend her to anyone. And extremely trustworthy as a house sitter. We hope she can sit for us again.

Sophia was amazing with Billy! She was so kind and caring, and it was clear she genuinely enjoys spending time with dogs. She kept us updated, which gave us peace of mind, and it was clear Billy had a great time with her. We would happily book with her again!
