I would like to share with you the very positive experiences we have had using Sophia B. as our house sitter and pet sitter over the last six years. Sophia and her family lived a block away, and I have known her for over 10 years. She was a very dependable teenager, and would watch the pets frequently until she moved away to go to college. We have her help care for our pets whenever she is back in town and available. Sophia is extremely reliable. We decided to give her a house key because we asked her to feed, and walk the pets whenever I needed to work late, or something unexpected arose. I can’t remember Sophia ever changing her mind or not showing up after she had agreed to help us. We have traveled internationally, leaving our animal family here, and felt very secure knowing that Sophia would give excellent care and would also be able to handle emergencies if anything should arise. ( Of course we provided her with multiple emergency contact support helpers, and veterinary information) Sophia is an excellent communicator. We would ask her via text if she was available, and she always answered quickly. Sometimes we would see her while on a walk, and she would get back to us quickly after checking her schedule regarding pet sitting and pet care. When traveling, she would reach out if she had any questions, and sometimes would send us cute pictures of the pets. In 2023, our son got married in Berkeley. We had a house full of animals, our son’s dog, a guest's dog, our two dogs and our cat. We planned a round the clock team. Sophia was part of the team, and clerified what each animal needed and what the plan was for the cat who didn’t know the 4th dog well. The wedding was beautiful, and there were no surprises with all of the animals at the house. We always enjoyed the cute notes and drawings Sophia would leave for us whenever we returned home. In addition to caring for our pets, Sophia was always willing to help when asked, including getting the mail, putting out and bringing in the garbage, and watering plants. She would spend the night here when we traveled, and would drop by when we needed dog walking and our the pets needed to be fed. I know that she would take the time to pet and talk to the animals when here. They love/loved her! We have a golden retriever who loves everyone, but doesn’t always get along with our son’s dog who visits often. We have a small Lhasa Apso. We adopted him from the shelter, and he is extremely picky about who he allows to pet him. He has been known to nip at people. He loves Sophia, and she is one of the few people he immediately liked. Astro, our beautiful cat, definitely appreciated how Sophia would pet him and care for him. When Astro got older, he was on medications. Sophia has given medications to Astro, and to the other pets over the years. When our beloved cat Astro developed a neurological, untreatable disorder, it was Sophia who we knew he would want to see in his final days. There are some people have a special relationship with animals, and Sophia is one of those people. She is calm and gentle. I highly recommend Sophia as a pet and house sitter!
