Safety, trust & environment

As guardian to two dogs that come from backgrounds of trauma, I take my role as a walker or sitter very seriously. I take my cues from you, their human, and the dog.

Information Sonia R. would like to know about your pet

I have a soft spot for odd dogs, the ones that have different needs and challenges, but are bright with personality. I believe in positive methods training only, and will give your dog lots of love, patience, and cuddles (only if they like cuddles!). I trust you to tell me everything I need to know about your dog.

A typical day

I manage my pace and walk location with the needs of your dog. Is your dog lead-reactive? We will walk in quiet places. Does your dog need a run? Then we will run together. I finish walk sessions with some brain work and/or a canine puzzle.

Positive, Force-Free Dog Walks

Pet care experience

Hello! My name is Sonia, I live in Pointe-Claire and currently offer drop in services and dog walking. I offer overnight visits with existing clients. I only walk one dog at a time. I have volunteered at an animal shelter for four years in Texas, have dog-sat in Texas, Missouri, and New York, and have worked as a professional dog walker in London. 9 years ago, I adopted my first dog, Nora. She is an adult rescue, who has suffered in her life. Understandably, she has had has a lot of fears about the world. It has been a joy to watch her blossom, and be brave. 6 years, I adopted my second senior rescue dog, Karl, who spent much of his life in a cage. During our journey together, I have learned about positive, force-free training methods, and managing anxiety in nervous dogs! Here is what you need to know: 1. I only walk dogs on a harness. If you do not have one, I will bring one with me. It is not safe, comfortable, nor kind to walk dogs on a collar. 2. I do not use force. I do not pull on dogs, I do not raise my voice, I do not use ANY aversive methods. I use reward (treats, praise) based training ONLY. 3. I keep up to date with the science of dog training. 4. I completed animal first aid training in 2025 with Walks and Wags. 5. I really, REALLY, love dogs. I work with dogs with love and patience. 6. I meet all dogs and dog parents to make sure we are a good fit for each other before committing to any services.

Our girls love and trust Sonia. We're so happy she was able to spend time with them while we were away. She understands our dogs needs perfectly, and always sends us photos and updates of both Belle and Ivy

Finding Sonia has been a total lifesaver! I’ve worked with her for almost a year now, and I have complete peace of mind at work knowing Panbeh is in such dedicated hands. She truly goes above and beyond, ensuring Panbeh walks and gets both exercise and mental brain work. I feel so lucky to have found her—highly recommended

So happy to have found someone our girls can trust! Sonia is so good with them. We feel so much better when we're away knowing Belle is well taken care of on her walks!

As always, it’s a wonderful experience with Sonia after every visit. I can leave my dog with complete peace of mind. Sonia spends quality time with Panbeh after each walk, brings him a new puzzle every time, and explains every single detail in the report card so I always know how he’s doing.
