Let Them Sniff: Force-Free Walks!
Hello! My name is Sonia, I live in Pointe-Claire and currently offer drop in services and dog walking. I offer overnight visits with existing clients. I only walk one dog at a time. I have volunteered at an animal shelter for four years in Texas, have dog-sat in Texas, Missouri, and New York, and have worked as a professional dog walker in London and Montreal. 9 years ago, I adopted my first dog, Nora. She is an adult rescue, who has suffered in her life. Understandably, she has had has a lot of fears about the world. It has been a joy to watch her blossom, and be brave. 6 years, I adopted my second senior rescue dog, Karl, who spent much of his life in a cage. During our journey together, I have learned about positive, force-free training methods, and managing anxiety in nervous dogs! Here is what you need to know: 1. I do not use force. I do not pull on dogs, I do not raise my voice, I do not use ANY aversive methods. I use reward (treats, praise) based training ONLY. 2. I keep up to date with the science of dog training. 3. I completed animal first aid training in 2025 with Walks and Wags. 4. I really, REALLY, love dogs. I work with dogs with love and patience. 5. I meet all dogs and dog parents to make sure we are a good fit for each other before committing to any services.

As guardian to two dogs that come from backgrounds of trauma, I take my role as a walker or sitter very seriously. I take my cues from you, their human, and the dog.
