Availability
I recently graduated from Bard College, and right now my schedule is very flexible. I do different kinds of side work — like baking for a farm stand, house cleaning, car interior detailing, organizing and decluttering spaces, and helping people around the house, mostly for the Bard community and local families. Because of that, I usually don’t have to be away for many hours every day.

Safety, trust & environment
For safety, I always pay attention to doors and gates, collars and leashes, food, trash, small objects, plants, and anything else the pet could get into. I regularly check for ticks. I make sure pets always have fresh water. I don’t give treats or human food without permission. I watch for changes in behavior, appetite, bathroom habits, or energy level, and I always let owners know if something seems unusual.
Information Sofia S. would like to know about your pet
Before caring for a pet, I like to know their routine, personality, feeding and walking schedule, medications, and any health concerns. It’s also helpful to know about fears, triggers, how they behave around other people, dogs, and cats, separation anxiety, food aggression, leash reactivity, or habits like chewing, jumping, escaping, hiding, or getting into food or trash. I also like to know the house rules, training words, and how long they can stay alone.
A typical day
A typical day depends on the pet’s energy and routine. We can go for walks, and spend time playing games. But I also respect pet's pace. If a pet prefers calmer time, we can relax at home, cuddle, or just enjoy quiet company.

Pet care experience
I started pet sitting three years ago when I began studying at Bard College and was looking for ways to support myself as a student. By now, I would say I have a very wide range of experience — big dogs, small dogs, anxious dogs, hyperactive dogs, protective dogs, puppies, and many dogs and cats together in one home (at least 3 dogs, 5 cats). I also had experience where I had to take a pet to the emergency vet urgently. I understand that pets are family members, and it can be stressful to leave them with someone new. That’s why I carefully follow pet parents’ rules, routines, and schedules. Please let me know any important information I should know! I can be very soft, or I can be more strict, depending on what your pets need and what you prefer. I feel totally comfortable sleeping with pets in one bed and being very cuddly, and I can also follow more structured training routines, like sit-wait-yes. I stay in touch and send updates, so owners feel comfortable and reassured. If I had to describe myself, I would say I’m very empathetic. It helps me connect with animals, notice how their behavior changes over the time we spend together, understand what makes them feel more relaxed when their parents are away. I try to be calm, patient, and attentive to each pet’s personality.

Myrtle had a happy week with Sofia! Thank you for for your work

Sofia was wonderful! She was always responsive, and took such wonderful care of the dogs. They loved her and were in great hands. She left the house in great shape and was a super respectful guest. Would highly recommend using Sofia!

Sofia was very responsible and caring with our 2 dogs, and took excellent care of our home. I recommend her highly.

Sofia was so gentle and patient with my skittish rescue dog! Ellie felt safe with her right away and even cuddled up a bit on the first visit. We will definitely be spending more time with Sofia! She’s wonderful.
