I work for a small marketing agency that is fully remote, which gives me the flexibility and opportunity to spend time caring for other people’s pets. As my work involves travelling quite often to meet with clients around the world, I’m unfortunately not able to commit to having a pet of my own at the moment. That’s one of the reasons I love this app - it allows me to enjoy spending time with animals while helping owners feel confident that their pets are happy, comfortable, and well cared for. Because my work is flexible, I’m able to be at home with dogs for the whole day, follow their usual routines, and make sure they get plenty of attention, walks and playtime. I also share my flat with a flatmate who works remotely a few days a week and is a big animal lover too. This means your dog will often have some extra company, attention, and affection while staying with us :)

Safety, trust & environment

We live in a secure gated community, with multiple sets of doors to get through before reaching the outside, so your pet will be safe and there’s no chance of any little escape artists making a run for it! Our flat is all on one level with no stairs, making it a comfortable and safe environment for dogs of all ages. Your dog will be treated like part of the family here, they’re welcome on the furniture, encouraged to follow me around the house, and can happily relax by my side while I work (or supervise my emails, as many dogs like to do!). I’m lucky to have a flexible job, which means I can pop out regularly for toilet breaks, walks, playtime, and plenty of attention throughout the day. I’ll care for your pet as if they were my own, making sure they feel safe, loved, and settled while you’re away. Appreciate how reassuring it is to receive updates when someone else is looking after your pet, so I always send regular messages, photos, and little updates throughout the day so you can see that your furry friend is happy and being very well looked after.

A typical day

Dogs are more than welcome to sleep in my room during their stay, and I always try to keep their normal routine as much as possible so they feel comfortable and settled in a new environment. A typical day would start with a morning walk and breakfast, followed by some relaxed time while I get on with work. As I work from home, they can keep me company throughout the day, with plenty of opportunities for walks, playtime, and attention whenever they need it. After dinner, we’ll usually head out for another good walk before settling down on the sofa for a cosy evening. Walking is actually one of my favourite things to do, and having a dog as company makes it even better. Working from home can sometimes mean being stuck at a desk for too long, so having a reason to step away, get some fresh air, and stretch my legs is something I really enjoy.

Pet care experience

I’ve been dog sitting professionally for nearly five years, and it’s something I genuinely love. During that time, I’ve cared for dogs of all breeds, sizes, ages, and personalities. Whether it’s popping in for walks and feeding, providing overnight care, or staying with dogs for longer periods while their owners are away, I’ve had the pleasure of looking after a wide variety of wonderful pets. I’ve even travelled abroad to care for dogs, including spending a week looking after them in the South of France where I regularly get to travel to for work as well. Animals have always been a big part of my life, and caring for them has been something I’ve genuinely loved from a young age. Growing up, my parents’ home was always full of animals, including dogs, cats, rodents, birds, and horses. We currently have an 11 year old Pomeranian and a lively 3 year old miniature Dachshund (they are living their best life in Spain). I also own a horse who’s currently retired, and looking after him has taught me a great deal about responsibility, patience, and commitment. During sixth form, I volunteered at an animal shelter for a year, where I helped with dog walking, basic training, feeding, cleaning, and general animal care. It was a really rewarding experience and gave me a much better understanding of the care and attention that rescue animals need. It also helped me build confidence when handling dogs with different personalities and needs. Whenever I visit my parents in Spain, I continue to volunteer at a local animal shelter. There I help by walking the rescue dogs, giving them exercise, socialisation, and a break from kennel life. I really enjoy being able to make a positive difference, even in a small way. Working with animals has always been something I find incredibly rewarding.

Cannot thank Sofia enough! I reached out last minute for a dog walking/sitting request for our 4-month old puppy Charles, and she responded very quickly to the request. Communication was great, and she sent me loads of photos and videos from the walk and sitting - this was our puppy's first time being with a dog sitter, and I was a little nervous at first but it looks like he loved it! He is now fast asleep at our house - a good sign of time well spent. Thank you again Sofia for your help!
