Dog rescuer-Home built for dogs
I run a foster-based Great Dane rescue out of my home in Long Beach, so caring for dogs isn't a side gig for me. It's what I do every day. Over the past year I've taken in dozens of dogs, a lot of them seniors or dogs coming off surgery, heartworm treatment, or fractures that needed slow, careful recovery. Your dog doesn't have to be a hard case for me to be the right sitter. It just means your dog is in hands that have seen a lot. A few things that come with that. I read dogs closely. I use a somatic, nervous-system-based method to help anxious or overstimulated dogs settle, which matters most in the first few hours somewhere new. If your dog gets nervous being away from you, that's exactly the dog I know how to help. Size and strength don't faze me. Great Danes are my baseline, so a leash-reactive lab or a bully breed who leans his full weight into you is an easy day. I handle medical needs without drama. Meds on a schedule, post-op restrictions, mobility support for older dogs, allergy protocols. Send me the instructions and they get followed. My home is set up for dogs, not staged for a photo. Big water bowls, a secure yard, room to move, and someone here who's actually watching them.
Qualifications
Ratings and reviews
I recently had the pleasure of having Sofia take care of my fur baby, Knox, for a week while I was on a family vacation. From the moment I dropped him off, I could tell he was in great hands. Sofia communicated exceptionally well throughout the week, keeping me updated with regular messages and adorable pictures of Knox enjoying himself. It was clear that he was having a fantastic time in a fun and welcoming environment. Sofia's care and attention to detail were evident, and I felt completely at ease knowing Knox was being looked after so well. I would highly recommend Sofia to anyone in need of a trustworthy and caring dog sitter. Without a doubt, I will be asking her to sit for Knox again in the future. Thank you, Sofia, for making our time apart so stress-free!
Sofia is an amazing sitter. She took care of my boy Drago like he was her’s from a puppy. Excellent communication as well would receive photos, and updates about my dogs stay. I recommend her for anyone she is also very knowledgeable about dogs, and very friendly. Will be using her in the future!!

Sofia watched my dog during the day while I was away at work. She fosters many dogs. If you have a dog friendly pet they will probably be fine here.

Ms. Sofia is the absolute best for my pup. The care she provides to him is always top notch. Dimitri being in her care keeps me at ease knowing she’s adoring him like her own.

Stellar stay with Sofia... Bodhi just plopped down after returning home from a long weekend spent with Sofia's family. HE had so much fun and the amount of attention and play time just tuckered him out ... Sofia provided Excellent communication, pictures throughout the weekend and even voiced concern about his ears to which was brought up on us being aware. We are so happy to have found a caregiver for Bodhi and a new best friend in Rollie/ Rolex. Thank you so much for everything and will see you in the future. The Reffner's

Schedule
It basically is my routine. I run a foster-based Great Dane rescue out of my home, so there are almost always dogs here and my whole day is built around them. Feedings, walks, meds, rest, and downtime are already structured into how I live. Your dog slots into a house that runs on a dog's schedule, with someone home and paying attention, not fit into the gaps of a busy workday.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
For boarding, your dog stays in the house with me as part of the family, not crated in a garage or left alone for long stretches. I have a secure yard, room to move, and I keep dogs on their normal feeding and medication schedule so nothing gets thrown off. I'm comfortable with size, strength, seniors, and post-surgery or medical needs, and I use a calm, nervous-system-based approach to help anxious or overstimulated dogs settle in those first hours somewhere new. For walks and daycare, I match the pace to the dog. Seniors get a slower, sniff-heavy walk, high-energy dogs get worked properly so they come home tired, and everyone gets real attention the whole time.
Pets
A typical day
Morning starts with a potty break and breakfast, then a walk while it's still cool. The middle of the day is a mix of yard time, play, training games, and a solid nap, dogs need real rest and I make room for it. Afternoon is another walk or some one-on-one play depending on the dog. Evening is dinner, a wind-down walk, and couch time. Throughout the day you'll get photos and honest updates so you always know how it's actually going.
