Since I was in elementary school, my family has had Great Danes. I believe that big dogs in particular are a testament to how much we are capable of loving our pets. Like most pets, they will fill something in your life that you didn’t know was missing, but they will also cost you blood, sweat and tears- and sometimes this is multiplied according to their size. Giant breeds have much shorter life spans, as some of us know, and this seems to only heighten the pet parent experience. Unfortunately, in 2021, our family had one of our Danes fall ill and pass away while being boarded at a local facility. She was only two years old and we were completely devastated. Since then, I’ve come to realize how incredibly important it is to leave your pets under the care of someone who will be entirely present with them, tend to all of their needs, and communicate as much as possible. I can ensure that I will be that person if you choose me to be your sitter. I have been pet-sitting on and off since 2019 but dedicated three years entirely to the profession after 2022. During those three years I gained experience with dog breeds ranging from every size and age- and even a few cats and kittens. Most recently, I have had a full time job and could not continue to pet-sit, but now I have time to return to it and am looking forward to bringing on new clients. In my profile you can find photos of my own dog- Columba. Him and his litter were brought to a shelter soon after they were born and I had the opportunity to care for them until they were old enough to be adopted out. Obviously I had to keep one :) At the same time, my family brought Indigo home. Since then she has had a litter of puppies of her own and that’s how we ended up with Lula, her daughter.
