Availability

I prefer to work with dogs who can be left alone for at least 4 hours minimum, which would allow me to fit their routine into my schedule. However, my schedule does vary. I work 1-2 days a week in Freeport and am partially remote. I will send you a daily update with photos. I am mindful of your pet’s needs, schedule, and any skills they have or are working on. Overnight sits include daily walks and outdoor play/stimulation. For my most active overnight clients, I offer 1-hour (sometimes longer) adventure hikes and/or longer neighborhood walks. The agreed upon price of the sit should reflect this service.

Safety, trust & environment

I treat every pet with patience and love as if they were my own. Knowing their cozy and safe spots, their likes/motivators, dislikes/triggers, and routines will help me establish trust and a calm space for your dog. If I am boarding, I prefer your dog is crate trained. They would need to be able to go up 3 flights of stairs, or be small enough for me to pick up. I have a fenced back yard (but if the dog can jump high, it's shorter fencing on one side). I’m also very close to Baxter Woods and live in a quiet neighborhood.

Information Silvia C. would like to know about your pet

Please tell me about any triggers, likes, dislikes, quirks, routines, and commands they know or are working on. I want them to have fun with me while feeling safe and loved. I am attentive to your dog’s body language and that of other dogs, so I can redirect as needed. Please tell me how they interact with other dogs both on-leash, off-leash, etc.

A typical day

The day would start with any routines with potty, meals, walk, etc. I love checking out a nearby trail (conditions dependent) that we can hopefully walk to. If your dog likes running, they can tag along with me (as long as it’s not really hot out). During the day, I make sure they either are engaged in a few olfactory or other stimulating challenges, in addition to their other routines (yard play, walks, practicing commands/tricks, etc). If it is a weekend or day off, and I have your dog for extended care, you can request a longer hike (conditions/weather permitting).

Seeking More Dog Friends

Pet care experience

I will give your pets individualized and thoughtful attention and care. I grew up with 2 cats, and always loving on other people’s dogs. I have sat or walked over 50 different dogs since I was a teen. I am seeking more local dog-friends who need walks, backyard time or adventure hikes near my Deering Center neighborhood. I have openings for a few more overnight clients. I am happy to sit cats as well, but some can trigger my allergies. I love working with active breeds. I also have a soft spot and understanding of the needs of senior dogs, having cared for many from puppy to their golden years. I prefer to meet you and your pets first to make sure if it is a good fit overall, especially for a longer request. Walks: I would LOVE it if your dog is well-trained on leash, as this makes everything much more pleasant for everyone. If your dog is working on leash skills, please let me know. I have experience using training collars and building trust with dogs for off-leash adventures. I can incorporate long-lead playtime or off-leash time. For dogs that are mildly/moderately leash-reactive and in-training, I have adapted walks to accommodate their needs to the best of my abilities depending on the location. If your dog is significantly leash reactive, and needs to be walked on leash, please work with a trainer. If your dog has a history of nipping/biting another dog (or a human), please work with a trainer and be upfront about this with any sitter, including myself. Meds: I am comfortable and have given dogs and cats medicine, including insulin injections. I have experience with dogs who have seizures. I hope to take a pet CPR course this year (2025). Do you have a farm/stead too? I also have experience feeding and caring for chickens, pigs, goats, and horses. If you need that kind of care as well, please let me know.

Silvia is a very reliable , savvy Dog Walker. Ty enjoyed his walks with Silvia and waited for her patiently by the door when it was time for her to arrive, I would highly recommend her to anyone in the neighborhood.

Thank you for taking the time for a meet & greet before we confirmed dog walking. Leo and I both appreciate the care you provide for him and the prompt responses when coordinating times for dog walks

We recently moved to the area and had to find a new dog sitter which is always stressful. As soon as I met Silvia and saw our dog instantly fall in love with her, I was totally at ease and relieved. We feel so lucky to have found Silvia! She took great care of our dog Beau and was very easy to communicate with. We felt totally comfortable having her at our house and we will definitely be reaching out to her in the future when we need help with our dog!

Silvia was amazing with my pups. I was in Finland for a week and she let me know how they were doing everyday. It’s hard for me to leave them for extended periods of time, but as soon as I met Silvia I knew that her kind personality was just the right fit for my dogs. I would hire Silvia again in the future, I really appreciated the care she gave my dogs while I was gone.
