Safety, trust & environment
When checking in with your pet, I always make sure that they have water available (and food if your pet free-feeds). I also check litter boxes regularly when cat sitting. With dogs, I usually let them outside (whether in a fenced in backyard or on a leash) and then depending on the weather I play with them either outside or inside! I offer treats regularly to make sure that their experience with me is positive, and I make sure to give them snuggles if they want some!
Information Silas N. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know if your pet has any behavioral concerns before we meet. I have no problem with reactive dogs as long as I am able to keep myself and the dog safe at all times, and keeping me informed greatly helps with that. Also let me know if your pet has any medications they need, including anxiety medications (for example: if your pet has thunderstorm anxiety and I can tell that there will be a storm after I leave, I am happy to give calming treats or administer anxiety medications to ensure your pet isn’t stressed out). If I am walking your dog, please let me know how they behave on walks! I’ve walked dogs that are as small as 5 pounds and as large as 105+ pounds, and I am able to handle most on leash behaviors like pulling as long as I am aware of them before the walk starts. If you have a specific route that you usually take on walks, let me know and I am happy to follow that!
A typical day
I am happy to follow any routine that you have set in place for your pet, whether that means crating them or letting them roam the house! I prefer to keep an eye on your pet whenever I am with them for the sake of safety, but if they need space I won’t push their boundaries. If your pet is being left for multiple hours during the day, I am happy to prepare enrichment toys such as kongs or lick mats to keep them entertained! While on walks, I am happy to work on loose-leash walking if this is something your dog struggles with. While walking, I like to also work on training, and a bag of treats is helpful for this!

Pet care experience
I’ve been pet sitting since I was 13, providing care for both cats and dogs in my neighborhood. I also previously worked at a pet boarding facility where I cared for cats and dogs of all sizes, including reactive dogs. I have also owned dogs all of my life and have experience training basic skills including loose leash walking. I have experience medicating both cats and dogs.

Reviews

Silas was amazing with my cat! I came home to happy kitty who I could tell was well taken care of. He sent detailed updates with lots of pictures which I really appreciated! Would definitely book again!

Silas is amazing! My pup had a turn of events the day before Silas was scheduled to walk her, and I was nervous about leaving her for 6+ hours without a walk. Silas agreed last minute to come multiple times to check on her. He spent extra time with her, even in 100 degree weather. Lexi was super cared for, and Silas helped ease my concerns while I completed my work day.
Silas was fantastic! Professional in his communication, prompt, and attune to details. Took excellent care of my dog and senior cat. It’s clear that Silas has extensive experience with pets AND their slightly nervous owners:) Highly recommend!
Silas has watched our three cats at least a couple of times now, and always makes sure they are well-cared for. He is incredibly responsible, polite, and thorough. Would definitely recommend him as a pet sitter!
