I work with dogs full time, 24/7. My training services are often booked out far in advance but I’m always happy to add in daycare and boarding dogs who are a great fit when we have room as it benefits our pack and I love making new connections with other dog lovers to give your dog the vacation of their life.

I have a fenced yard in a convenient part of town, a block from the gondola, and a secure, dog-proofed home with safe toys. Cozy crates and/or play pen are available for sleeping in overnight near me and for any time I need to briefly run out for an errand (4hrs max.) as dogs will never be left out unattended. I have pet security cams on for any time I have to leave them unattended and if I’m at your home I treat everything with great respect and follow all rules. When we are out on adventures, I always have a Satellite phone on me, a k9 first aid kit, rescue harnesses for carrying a dog out on my back, and other necessities. I’m PACFA licensed as a dog handler and transporter as legally required in the state of CO.

Information Sierra H. would like to know about your pet
I love all animals, and have no species or breed preferences. I'd love to know what your expectations are for the stay so I can exceed them. Before your dog's stay, I will send you a new client form so you can fill out all info I'll need to keep your dog as safe and healthy as possible- this will include medications, special needs, off-leash skills if applicable, emergency contacts, vet, etc. The state of CO requires me to have a proof of current rabies, distemper and parvo (DHPP) vaccines for all dogs in my care. Your stay will not be confirmed until I receive this.
A typical day
I love taking dogs on hikes, trail runs, bike rides, mushing, and walks. Between active times, we have relaxation and calming decompression times. We are a pack based setting with a focus on calm neutrality around other dogs as a baseline with time for fun play and enrichment one-on-one with your dog. I am experienced with maintaining consistency for service and other working dogs. You’ll find my approach with dogs to be consistent, compassionate and calm. I am also happy to spend time building trust with shy and fearful dogs, and love when guest puppies and dogs join our adventure school to have fun, socialize, exercise and improve manners and responsiveness along the way.

Pet care experience
Welcome! *Important note: I am PACFA licensed as a dog handler & transporter in the state of CO. I stay up to date on Pet 1st Aid & CPR and teach k9 Wilderness 1st Aid. My business is licensed and insured. Trusted pet care providers should stay up to date on continuing education and follow all legally required business licensing!* I'm Sierra, an animal and nature oriented human. I have been professionally caring for animals since 2004 (and had my own in the family since birth) during which I've provided reliable and excellent short and long-term dog, ranch and house-sitting services, dog training, behavioral assessments and outdoor adventures for hundreds of clients over the west. I leave this profile up still because I meet wonderful people here! This is a safe place for dog parents of ALL walks. 🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈 My passion is in working with dogs and horses and I have a significant amount of experience with exotic species as well, from camel to iguana. I bring a unique approach of consistency, calmness & compassion to my work- and always put the animal’s needs first with an eye for risk-management and safety while still having lots of fun. I incorporate physical exercise, mental stimulation and natural environments to improve mental well-being, state of calm and balance for dogs of all kinds. Dogs in my care wear provided GPS trackers at all times and are safely tethered into the vehicle during any travel or in an optional crash-test rated crate. Our property and home have security cameras monitoring dog areas. Your animal family member will love joining our pack to have new experiences, a ton of fun, and calm relaxing times as well. I love taking dogs on adventures, and you will love to return to a tired, happy and well-behaved balanced dog! We bike, hike, mush/jore, backpack, camp, and much more with the dogs. I also teach Canine Wilderness First Aid classes and have ongoing training in Advanced K9 Medic/1st aid and Equine Emergency 1st Aid/FEMA certifications. On the side, I volunteer with SAR and as a W-EMT so I’m quite focused on risk-assessment in all aspects of life. I am not your basic dog sitter; I am also an Applied Canine Ethologist and certified LEGS Family Dog Mediator (FDM) as well as an AKC evaluation for STAR Puppy classes, Canine Good Citizen, All Fit Dog levels (1, 2 & 3), Trick Dog (all levels through pro.) and am Canine Conditioning Fitness Coach certified through DMWYD. I do several additional certs, courses & conferences throughout each year because I believe lifelong continuing education is important, fun, and the best thing we can do for our animal companions! Your dog is not just in the hands of an inexperienced animal lover but a professional who lives and breathes meeting the needs of animals. My weekly recurring adventure school is on a waitlist but I try to leave a spot for rover clients whenever possible! Send a booking request for daycare to have your dogs spend the day with us. *If you select "Boarding" as an option, we will be at my home conveniently in the middle of Telluride with a large fenced yard in town, walking distance from all the local trails and a block from the river as well as from the free gondola station. Exercise on the K9 treadmill is included in boarding if you’d like. We may also take dogs with us to our 40 acre property North of town if you give permission as I spend half of each week there. I have many yrs of volunteer experience at Humane Societies and rescues (in 4 states so far) helping dogs and horses to gain much needed exercise and skills to be adopted into a functional home. I currently foster and volunteer for Telluride Humane Society. I am a current member of IBPSA (Intl Boarding & Pet Services Assoc.) and a previous member of Professional United Pet Sitters Assc. Can't wait to meet you and your feathered, furry, slithery, and hoofed family members!
Reviews

Sierra hung out with our pups while we were in town for Thanksgiving. She was gracious enough to allow them to come to her house while we had a very relaxing and beautiful dinner. Sierra, thank so very much!

Sierra was lovely to work with. She watched McGee just for an evening so we could go out to dinner while visiting in town. She sent pictures and McGee was a happy boy when we picked him up, no stress! Would book again next time in town.

Sierra did a great job walking our two dogs! She sent pics and the boys looked to be enjoying themselves immensely!

Wonderful for day sitting while we were at a festival in Telluride. Received lots of updates and we felt comfortable knowing our pups were in good hands!
