My Life’s Direction … Animal Care

Pet care experience

I changed the direction my life was going and found the REASON was Animal Care. I began volunteering at 2 local Humane Societies in 2013. Very shortly thereafter became employed at both Societies = working 7 days a week with animals. I adopted my first 2 pets (torti cats named Cali & Ava) in the Fall of 2013. Adopted a 3rd torti cat in the Spring of 2014 (named Hallie B). I adopted a chihuahua in the Fall of 2016 (named Clara my grandmother’s name). With the exception of Hallie B they have all crossed the Rainbow Bridge. The 1st in December 2020 then June 2021 and most recently in May of this year :-( 🐾🐾🐾 They were adopted as Seniors. They were the best. After 4 years of Humane Society work I changed direction again in 2017 to a more professional aspect of Animal Care becoming employed at a Veterinary Hospital as a Kennel Attendant for over 7 years. I have performed a number of cat drop-ins around the Gloucester area for various residents affiliated with the Humane Society. One such assignment lasted for almost two months while the cat’s owners traveled to Florida for the winter.

Sheryl was great with our dog and cat while we were away for the holidays. She was caring, attentive, and followed our instructions for medications to a T. I would definitely recommend to book with her!

If you want someone who truly cares about your pet and goes the extra mile, then Sheryl is the person to choose. I have known and worked with Sheryl for nearly five years. She is mature, compassionate and dedicated. She knows what the bottom line is and knows how to get there efficiently and cost-effectively. She does not need constant supervision, does not need to be told what to do every step of the way, yet she knows how to work together with co-workers to get the job done and done correctly. Sheryl is one of those detail-oriented people who, for example, sees trash on the floor and picks it up (as opposed to umpteen people who walk by it or even step on it as they walk by without even noticing that it was there). She takes that kind of pride and responsibility with the animals in her care. She cares, she is compassionate, she is conscientious, and she is trustworthy. I would not hesitate to hire her and I recommend her 100 percent.
