Pet care experience

Active retired lover of all animals

I am fully insured and DBS checked. I have been house and pet sitting pretty much full time since January 2019 and, to date, have completed 110 sits in the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand all receiving 5 star reviews. Those were through other platforms when I was travelling and rented out my home. I have been back in my home since July 2025 and decided to join Rover on recommendation. I have mainly looked after a variety of dogs of all ages, sizes and breeds, cats and chickens but also alpacas, rare sheep, pygmy goats and fish. I like the challenge of teaching a dog new tricks (!) and taught a Dachshund to ring a bell, a Tibetan Terrier to wait before running after a ball and a Cockapoo to sit and high five, things they didn’t do before. I’m open to more challenges! I keep myself fit and particularly enjoy walking which is enhanced by the company of dogs. I like nothing more than to take my canine charges exploring with me, with their owners’ permission, and have introduced many to new walks and sniffs. I will keep your pets to their normal routines, give them as much love and cuddles as they can take and keep your home as clean and tidy as you leave it.

Sheryl was absolutely amazing looking after a timid, 14 year old Jack Russell. She took her for early morning walks in the woods to avoid the heatwave and look after my house as if it were her own. First time using Rover to find a Dogsitter and hit the jackpot. Thanks so much Sheryl .

Sheryl was amazing in taking care of my two dogs. We don't leave them overnight often and they require regular medication so I was a little nervous, but she was so kind and caring that we immediately felt that they were in safe hands. Sheryl's communication was great and she provided updates which we really appreciated. Highly recommend, we will definitely reach out again in the future if we require her services again.

I have known Sheryl for more than 20 years, as a work colleague who then became a family friend. As a former breeder of Burmese cats I was able to happily leave her to care for them when I was away on holiday. Sheryl house-sits because it gives her great satisfaction to care for peoples’ homes and their pets to whom she gives love and affection. I know her to be completely reliable, trustworthy and honest. She is often asked to make return visits by satisfied owners. Sheryl clearly cares about her charges’ wellbeing and derives great pleasure in taking dogs out for walks in the countryside, beaches etc. – she has endless energy!

Sheryl came to sit for us for 5 weeks taking care of not only our precious dog and 2 cats but also our home, sending photos and regular updates whilst we were away. Sheryl is a very self sufficient person, who is able to deal with any situation that may arise. We returned from our holiday to very happy pets and a clean and tidy house - she had even cleaned the oven! I highly recommend Sheryl as a house/pet sitter, she's one of the most honest and reliable people I have ever met.
