I have had a dog in my life since I was 8, have raised 2 daughters now 28 and 30, added several dogs permanently as well as several foster dogs; several cats; my husband had several falcons and is a licensed falconer, boarded several horses, including the one my daughter bought on her own at age 9; numerous small animals: guinea pigs, chinchillas, and hamsters; and recently took care of my son-in-law's South American racoon, a Kudamundi, for more than a year as they began homesteading in Montana.

I was unsure how my dog would do meeting other dogs, but Sherry reassured me and I felt more comfortable. Sherry, Mike, Finnigan, and Dash were very welcoming and everyone got along!
We enjoyed the picture and video updates during our dogs 10 day stay. Our dog was well cared for and we will definitely use her again!
This was the first time my dog spent the day and night away from home. Sherry and her husband made it very easy. Big thank you!

We couldnt have been happier with Sherry and Mike! I put together a last minute trip for my husband's birthday and needed a special kind of person for our rescue baby, Miley. Miley came to us from a rough background and needs a little more patience. After meeting them and their adorable furry family, we knew Miley would be fine. Even though she is a 50 lb mixed breed, she loves small dogs. We got photos of her on hikes and wandering on their incredible property. I felt more like I dropped of Miley for school then leaving her with a stranger. When we picked her up, she was happy and tired. Don't hesitate trusting your furry family with them. As always, our dog, Scout, loves spending time with Sherry, her husband and their dogs. She loves running around their space in the country and it's clear that they put the dogs' comfort first. Sherry was great about sending photos and videos while we were gone! We've left Scout for short visits, long weekends, and multi-week trips. We can't recommend Sherry enough!

Schedule
I am a retired educator, living on 10 acres of land just outside of Blue Grass, Iowa. We currently have a 6 year old Golden Retriever named Fergus and a rescue red tabby cat named Finlay. My schedule is flexible and I am also working at developing a business (property not yet zoned) on my property to provide TimberNook programming, where children are offered numerous free, open-ended, child directed/driven/supported play opportunities in the beautiful and important world of nature.

I am happy to have your pet in my home, most often as a member of our family. We have a large area for free roaming (supervised of course), an outdoor enclosed kennel area, and lots of space to roam around our 10 acre property as well as our 2400 square foot home.
Pets
A typical day
I enjoy furry friends, love to have a buddy for our dog, and enjoy being outdoors as much as possible. We like to play with sticks, balls, go on walks both leashed and unleased (based upon the individual needs of each specific dog). As a retired educator, current nature play specialist and PhD in counseling studies, I understand that the needs of each furry friend and each family is unique and important. It is my job to make certain that all is well for everyone involved, and that everyone is heard and listened to.

You are entrusting me with a member of your family and I need to make sure I am knowledgeable, understanding and capable of meeting all of your family's needs.
