Safe and trustworthy environment for both settings: In Your Home (Boarding or Daycare) Since you can only host pets that get along with others, pre-screening and temperament testing are critical: Conduct a "Meet & Greet": Always meet new client pets on neutral ground (like a local park or quiet sidewalk) before accepting a booking to observe how they react to other animals and strangers. Controlled Introductions: Introduce pets slowly on-leash, watching for tense body language (stiff posture, hard stares, raised hackles) before allowing free interaction. Separation Capability: Maintain dedicated, secure spaces (such as crates, playpens, or separate rooms) so pets can eat, sleep, or rest without stress or competition. Always separate animals during feeding time. Home-Proofing: Ensure backyards are fully fenced with locked gates, hide all cords/cleaning supplies, and keep trash cans secured. In the Client’s Home (House Sitting or Pet Sitting) When caring for pets in their own environment, consistency and home security are key: Follow Their Routine: Adhere strictly to the owner's instructions for feeding schedules, medication, walk routes, and bedtime rules to keep the pet calm and secure.
