3+ Years Fostering Denver Dogs

I've owned 7 different breeds of dogs since childhood and have been fostering for Denver rescues for 3+ years. I typically take in the dogs who've been waiting the longest for a home or who have special needs, including dogs recovering from abuse or neglect. That means I've trained and cared for just about every kind of dog and situation: dog-aggressive alphas, dogs with severe separation anxiety, nervous rescues still learning to trust people again. Every dog is different, and I pay close attention to what each one actually needs rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. I also have my own dog at home, a year and a half old pit bull mix who is excellent with other dogs and very submissive, so she's a great, easygoing companion for dogs I've watched. Beyond walks and belly rubs, I love taking dogs on runs if they've got energy to burn, and I'm just as happy curled up on the couch with a snuggly senior. Whatever your pup needs, I've probably handled it before, and I'd love to help take care of them." I put it after the training/experience paragraph since it's a nice concrete example of your dog-savvy approach, and mentioning her being submissive/good with others directly addresses a common worry people have about boarding with another dog in the house.

We have a “people loving, dog hating” rescue dog, leaving us with needing a sitter at our home as opposed to traditional boarding. Knowing Sheridan has vast experience with various rescue situations gives us an extra element of comfort when we travel. Sheridan communicates well, is organized and reliable. She is a calming presence for our high anxiety dog while maintaining her leadership role and we trust her explicitly with our home and our fur baby. It’s also an added bonus that she sends us cute pictures of our dog while we’re gone! We’d have Sheridan sit for us 100% of the time if we could!

Sheridan is honestly the best thing that's happened to my dog's social calendar. The second she walks in, my dog loses his mind with excitement, like his favorite person just showed up (because she is). She's warm and clearly loves animals, but she's also just really on top of things, shows up when she says she will, follows whatever instructions I give her, and sends photo updates that make my whole day better. I never think twice about leaving my dog with Sheridan because I know he's getting real attention and love, not just a quick in and out. She's trustworthy, easy to work with, and a genuinely great person on top of being fantastic with dogs. Any pet parent would be so lucky to have her.

Sheridan was wonderful with my dog, Costner! I felt completely comfortable traveling knowing he was in such good hands. She kept me updated, gave him plenty of love and attention, and it was clear from the start that she genuinely cares about animals. You can tell she has a huge heart for them, and it really shows in the way she cares for them. I’m so grateful to have found someone I can trust with Costner and would absolutely recommend Sheridan!

Sheridan is hands down my favorite sitter to use!! She is a fabulous sitter, extremely responsive, and my dog absolutely loves her! I love that Sheridan sends me pictures of my boy during the time she spends with him. I trust her 10000% with my pet always!

Schedule

I work from home, so pet care fits naturally into my day. My own dog is with me constantly, and I build in walks, play breaks, and check-ins throughout the day rather than squeezing them into a rushed morning and evening routine.

Safety, trust & environment

In my home, dogs have access to a fully fenced yard, plus we're right next to a large park and a 5-minute walk from a dog park, so there's no shortage of space to run and explore. I regularly care for friends' dogs when they travel, so I'm very comfortable managing animals in my own home for extended stays. I have plenty of indoor space too, and dogs are welcome on the furniture unless an owner tells me otherwise. In a client's home, I follow their routine and house rules as closely as possible, sticking to normal feeding times, walk schedules, and any specific instructions so the dog's day stays consistent even when you're not there.

A typical day

I use a lot of different enrichment activities since I've fostered so many special-needs dogs over the years, so I know how much mental stimulation matters, not just physical exercise. A typical day might include walks through the neighborhood, playtime in the park across the street or in my fenced yard, some light training or puzzle games, and plenty of relaxed couch time. I tailor the mix to each dog's energy level and personality so they're getting exactly what they need, not a one-size-fits-all routine.

Please let me know ahead of time about any special needs, whether that's anxiety, medical needs, reactivity, or anything else, so I can prepare properly. I have experience helping foster dogs work through separation anxiety, as well as potty training and crate training, so don't hesitate to share the details even if it feels like a lot. The more I know, the better I can care for your dog.
