Pet care experience
RVT, CHPT with 27 years experience
I have worked in animal medicine for 27 years and owned/operated my own pet sitting business. I love all animals and have cared for birds, pocket pets, dog and cats. I am comfortable giving oral/topical and injections (ex. Insulin). Two years ago I spent a year getting certified in animal hospice and palliative care. I know leaving a little old timer at home is stressful and requires someone with advanced caregiving skills. I welcome dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, rodents and small reptiles.

Ratings and reviews
I was so reluctant to use Rover but then I found Shelly! Now I’m reluctant to leave this review because I don’t want her to get too busy and not be available but she deserves a glowing reference from me. Shelly, is absolutely the best and I feel so blessed to have found her…she is experienced with all their meds, loving and reliable. I highly recommend her as a caregiver. A+++ (and I don’t leave this review lightly….I am very particular when it comes to my babies )

Shelley is a literal earth angel who truly loves animals deeply. Every check in update was detailed and also made me giggle as she really got to know my cats personalities haha this was my first role using Rover and I’m so glad I found Shelley on here! Hired her for while we were gone during our wedding weekend and felt completely at ease with trusting her to tend to the house hold ! (And medicating one kitty with no fus) will book again for future travels !!

Thank you for being such a comfortable place to leave our dogs. We appreciate your knowledge, patience and kindness with Patches. We highly recommend Shelley for any of your doggo care.

Thank you again - we appreciate always being able to leave the dogs in a home where we know they are safe and well cared for. I hope one day Patches realizes we’re still not abandoning him and makes friends with Bruce.

Grateful for Shelley’s comfort and confidence with our very senior dog and our bundle of separations anxiety. Your patience with them as they continue to get used to this is much appreciated.

Thanks for taking the time for the dogs to get comfortable. Amazing to have found such a great level of care for them.

Where your pet will stay
Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
I have a quarter acre fenced yard. We have a pug named Bruce and a border collie named Biscuit. We live in a bi-level home in a quiet neighbourhood close to hiking trails that we frequent often. Pocket pets enjoy their own room and birds are upstairs with outdoor lookout.
Pets
A typical day
Dogs will be walked once daily and let out in our fenced yard several times daily as needed. My two dogs will be barky with a newcomer at first but are good boys and respectful. Your dog must not have a history of dog aggression to stay here. Your dog will be part of our daily life wiyh lots of love and attention from myself, my husband and two teenage daughters. Birds are kept upstairs and cats/caged pets have their own room with large xpen (for rabbits and piggies). We welcome dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, rodents of all types and some small reptiles.
Prices include all fees.
