Growing up on a ranch gave me the necessary skills required to care for animals. One of the most important aspects of caring for animals is calmness, and giving them space to trust you. At the age of ten, I became the puppy trainer/sitter for several family friends. I taught their dogs the basic recall, sit, and stay, as well as fun tricks like; wave, rollover and bow. Since living in a very rural area limited some access to veterinary aid, ranchers and farmers in our area had to learn some basic techniques and practices to keep their animals healthy. This included deworming horses, birthing cows, bottle feeding, and administering vaccines or medications to sick animals. All of which I had to help with or do while living on the ranch. Since moving to Montreal, I have deeply missed being around animals, and am not yet ready to adopt one but want to help you! Animals bring me so much peace and joy, I hope to have the honour of bringing some joy and peace to you and your pet as well.

I left my two cats with Shelby for a few days and I honestly couldn't have asked for a better sitter. She was always quick to respond, very accomodating, and just a pleasure to interact with. The cats had a great time too. Thank you Shelby :)
I can’t recommend Shelby enough as a pet sitter and dog walker. She is incredibly reliable and caring with animals. I’ve seen firsthand how patient and responsible she is while looking after my 5 year old dog, Zeus. Any pet owner would be lucky to have someone as trustworthy and compassionate as Shelby to care for their animal.
Shelby is an absolutely wonderful human being and fantastic with animals. I used to have her look after my two Yorkie’s while I was travelling and trusted her to have the security code and keys for my condo. I was not let down. She is a pure soul!
Shelby has taken care of my rescue dogs and they both absolutely love her. She is such a kind nice person, I would recommend her without any hesitation to anyone who wants their dog to be loved and well taken care of.
I’ve known Shelby basically my whole life. We met when we were both in daycare at the age of 3 and were inseparable since. We are both now going to be 28 this year and throughout the time spent together our families have had numerous pets. Shelby and I both grew up on farms/ranches in the Okanagan of BC Canada. Shelby’s always shown compassion and love for animals, dogs always being her favourite. She never forgot to help with feeding and grooming and spent lots of time playing with her ranch dogs. Today we live in separate cities as our lives have taken us on different paths but we remain as close as ever keeping in regular contact. If we did live in the same city, Shelby would be my first choice to help care for my pets if I had to leave town for a period of time, or if I simply just needed help while juggling a busy schedule. She treats animals the way anyone would want their pets to be treated; with love, care and respect. Anyone who gets the chance to hire Shelby to care for their animals will benefit greatly, as they’ll know their beloved furry family members are in the best of hands. I would strongly recommend Shelby to anyone who is looking for a reliable, responsible and good hearted animal caregiver. She’s a good person with a good heart.

Schedule
I am currently self employed, so my schedule varies a bit, however this gives me quite a lot of flexibility to work around your schedule.

Safety, trust & environment
I currently live in an apartment very close to a park with a dog park. It is extremely important to me to follow your instructions and listen carefully to you and your pet’s needs. I do not have a yard in my current home, however I am available to take your fluffy child out on a stroll at any point and time. If I am looking after your pet in your home, my care depends on your instructions and needs of your pet. I always have your animal’s best interest at heart and understand that communication is key.
A typical day
I understand that each pet has different needs, so I always do whatever means necessary to give them the best possible care. If your dog needs long walks and lots of activity, that is no problem. If your cat is anxious and hides, that’s okay I’ll work to gain their trust, and can provide a calm environment. If your pet has a specific diet, I can follow that. Communicate their needs and I will be sure to provide that.
