Safety, trust & environment
I have a fully fenced yard with minimal stairs into and out of the home, making it easier for small or senior animals. I am very experienced with crate training, but I'm also laid back, so if your pet likes sitting on couches and sleeping in bed I'm fine with that too!

Information Shelby D. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know if your dog is intact (not fixed), has special needs (e.g. requires medication), or has noteworthy behaviours I should watch for and cue (e.g. agressive with intact female dogs, or human men).
A typical day
I live very near to several public parks and 2 dog parks, which are great for socialization. If your dog is less social I would opt to walk them around my community, Mayland Heights, which is very quiet.

Experienced pet owner
Pet care experience
I am self-employed and work remotely, so my schedule is very flexible and I can provide 24hr in home care as long as there is reliable internet. In 2026 Rover raised their fees to 30%, so unfortunately I have had to raise my rates. I have had pets all my life from fish, frogs, hamsters, birds, cats and dogs! In the past I worked at a doggy daycare and I was a livestock manager at Petcetera, so I also have professional experience dealing with a variety of other animals. Over the last 10 years I've consistently owned cats and dogs and, over the last 5 years, I've fostered many rescue dogs. My last dog was an Akita who lived to be 14, and I have experience administering medications, needles, supplements, accommodating mobility issues, and am well equipped to deal with special need animals. Currently I do not have any pets of my own, but my roommate has a cat who is very friendly and gets along with other animals. I am available for drop in visits, walks, and home/pet sitting - however, due to health problems, I do not offer drop-in walks through the winter. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me at any time. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile! :)
Reviews

Shelby took great care of our fur babies! You could tell that they were well exercised and loved while we were away. Also Shelby left the house neat and tidy. Will definitely be booking with her again.

Shelby was awesome with our 2 goldens! We got an update at the end of every day which was so nice and reassuring. Our 1 dog has some reactivity and she had no problem handling him and even made some training progress. When we got home our house was spotless which was incredible to come home to after a long road trip. We would absolutely use her again.

Shelby is lovely! She was so kind to Gary and Juno and spent so much time petting them and providing them care and attention.

Shelby was great to deal with! Went the extra mile for our pups :)
