Giving a Safe Space for Your FurFam

A Bit About Us: My partner and I team together to provide you with Dog Boarding & Doggie Day Care in our home. I have 20 years experience, both personally and professionally, caring for dogs from Shih Tzus, Yorkies, Labs, Retrievers, Poodles, and Shepherds. I've cared for puppies from 8 weeks old who needed a transionary home for potty and crate training prior to their long-term home; and I've also cared for senior dogs who needed more reassurance, attention and affection. My partner grew up with dogs including Labs and Retrievers from puppies to seniors. We have two dogs; one 50lb 1 year old and one 20lb senior - both of our dogs are nonshedding. We find our dogs mesh well with other dog personalities; if your pup likes to play, ours will be playful too; if your pup likes to sleep or chill, ours will take a snooze as well! We both work from home during the week and are available most weekends. During our meet and greet, we will do our best to ensure compatibility with your pup to give you, your pup and us all peace of mind while your pup is in our care. A Bit About Our Space: Our home is a smoke-free zone, which is important to many of our clients that need a hypoallergenic space. Our home is in a residential area, has a fenced yard and three floors. We typically allow the dogs full roam of the house, unless there are any specific concerns or limitations. During Doggie Day Care, we will walk your dog in the morning and afternoon, with plenty of pee breaks in-between from our fenced backyard. During Dog Boarding, we will typically walk the dog in the evening and/or morning, depending on the drop off and pick up times, on top of offering your dog plenty of outdoor playtime and potty breaks. We have a baby gate and door dividers to create separate spaces when we are accommodating multiple pups or pup with limited mobility. We have a couple of spare bedrooms which we use if/when your dog needs a bit more quiet space, a nap, or if we need to separate the other dogs under our care. If you are working on crate training your dog, or would like us to keep up with your crate training while your pup is here, we have a small-sized crate, medium-sized crate, and large-sized crate on-hand to accommodate small to large dogs. We have a few extra doggie beds from small to large as well. We typically allow our own dogs on the couch, but we're happy to follow your typical house rules for your pup to not create any bad habits for your pup while they are here. We have a range of toys from small to large, including: balls, squeeky, crinkly, and tug toys to keep your pup happy and entertained. What to Bring? At minimum, please bring your pup's collar or harness (with tags), leash, special treats (if any) and food for meal times along with instructions on the amount and timing of their meals. You are always welcome to bring your pup's food and water bowls, bed, blanket, toys, crate, or other favorite things to help ease your pup into being away from home. We find this helps ease your pup's nerves and adds a feeling of safety and security while being away from their loved ones. If your dog has any food allergies, please let us know at the time of your booking request, as well as upon meet and greet or drop off when we are reviewing your pup's needs. We keep several types of treats on-hand to keep your pup happy and content while they are in our care, but you are welcome to bring any specific treats that meet your pup's dietary needs or food restrictions. Please include information about their favorite type of treat, any food or environmental allergies and any dietary restrictions with your booking request.

Safety, trust & environment

We are dog lovers here! We have also been in your situation where we have tried to find someone trustworthy, safe and responsible to take care of our pups for a day, a weekend or a week. Every time we go away, we find it very difficult to find a safe space where we can trust our pups will be cared for, adored, and given the attention they are used to us giving them. We understand how much receiving an update or a picture of your pup while you're away can make a difference, give you reassurance or light up your day. We also understand the importance of keeping similar routines, training or habits that your pup gets at home to minimize the stress and avoid bad habits from developing. We will do our best to cater our style and our day based upon your dog's personality, fears, anxieties, overall health, and training needs. Our property has a fully wooden fenced yard (not chain-linked). The dogs in our care will have access to the backyard for potty, play, sniff and run breaks. Our home has three floors for roaming and exercise, along with spare bedrooms for naps and downtime. The dogs will typically have full roam of the home to allow for exercise, play, and/or space when desired. We also have two other friendly dogs (shih tzu mix & doodle) to keep your pup company during their stay.

Pets

A typical day

We provide a morning and afternoon walk to give your dog time to vent their energy, do their potties and poopoos, and get some fresh air. All pups under our care will also get off-leash outdoor potty breaks in our backyard where they can leisurely sniff, run around, or soak up the sun. We will engage with your pup according to their personality. If they are more relaxed or low-energy, we will give them lots of cozy spaces to hangout, pets, cuddles and treats to keep them pampered. If your pup has higher energy, we will give them more outdoor play breaks including some fetch games, or "get it" games to let them run around. We can play one-on-one with your pup or amongst other dogs, depending on whether they are more shy or outgoing.

When submitting a request for a booking, please include the following: - Current type, amount, and frequency of food, snacks, treats, and meals - Current or past health conditions which may be important for me to monitor. - Food restrictions, dietary requirements, or food allergies - Environmental allergies, if any - Favorite types of toys and favorite types of play - Known commands, command words and tricks - Personality, including quirks, fears, anxieties, likes and dislikes - Dog Lover or People Lover, or both? - Typical schedule including meal times, potty breaks, walks, naps, and play times so we can try to recreate/accommodate their typical day as best we can - Any potential problematic behaviors and/or behaviors you'd like us to deter your pup from in order to reinforce their training and avoid creating bad habits - Are they okay with their paws being touched, dried or washed? (in case there are rainy where we may need to clean their feet after outdoor playtime)
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
