Availability

I live near Hanover and have reliable transportation. I have no conflicting agenda items or holidays in the near future. I do gig work to help support my best friend going to Dartmouth and have a flexible, open schedule. I try my best to plan outings with pets when the weather is best for their paws and especially if the dog is a breed prone to heat or breathing issues.

Safety, trust & environment

I have had animals all my life of various breeds, ages, temperament, and unique needs. I have knowledge and experience through my animal shelter work on what silent pain signals or distress can look like in dogs and cats. I've administered medications before but would prefer to let the animal get to know me before providing injections. My preference is to have a meet and greet with your pet(s) ahead of the scheduled outing so they may acclimate to me and to have a brief in-person discussion to go over the scope of the service you wish to see.

Information Shayleen F. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if your dog has an allergies, behavioral tendencies (aggression, fear, separation anxiety), or any medical conditions that I should be aware of. I want to ensure your pet is receiving the most love and care when you book me. I try to style my appointments by individual, such as walking times, play style, enrichment activities, and avoiding any unnecessary triggers for more wary animals. You can also tell me their favorite things, too! :) I love positive information as it's just as important as the limitations and capacity.

A typical day

Depending on breed and what the owner wishes, I often will take dogs out for a first short walk to get their spirits up. I allow them enrichment time during this to sniff and enjoy the world. After that and some water, I gauge whether the animal's body language (+ the schedule) on whether they'd like to exert more energy. My favorite thing to do is bring dogs down near the beach for a leashed walk near the water. If outdoor activities are not in the cards due to weather or dog's capacity, I like to create lick mats or enrichment toys to bring inside so the dog isn't bored. Puzzle toys that reward treats or chew toys that help relieve stress and anxiety. I also love to just be present with the animal and lay with them and give them a gentle, quiet presence to feel safe and loved.

Experienced dog and cat advocate!

Pet care experience

I have volunteered at animal shelters in WA and worked alongside animal behavioralists to read canine and feline body language to gauge interests, anxiety, and pain levels. I love being able to help my client’s animals reach relaxation without being over stimulated. I’m versed in enrichment activities that alleviate stress and help the animals reconnect with their playful, trusting side! I love to make animals feel like they have a new trusted friend while their pet parents are away and to provide care that makes their owners feel like they're with family.

Shay is a very kind and caring pet sitter. She loves doting on pets and giving them the best care possible. I can't think of someone who adores pets more and I would trust her with my cats any time. She is my preferred sitter and is very reliable. 10/10.
