Pre-Vet Student You Can Trust

As a pre-veterinary student, I provide more than just pet sitting—I bring knowledge, patience, and a genuine passion for animal care. I have hands-on experience caring for dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, and other small animals through both personal ownership and animal care work. I'm comfortable caring for puppies, senior pets, and animals with special needs, including administering medications when needed. I understand that every pet has a unique personality and routine, and I strive to make them feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you're away. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, quiet companionship, or simply sticking to their normal routine, I'll provide attentive, reliable care and regular updates so you can have peace of mind.

Shay was great to work with! Dennis had a great weekend and I got regular updates and pictures on how he was doing! Would definitely use her again in the future. Thanks for taking such great care of our Dennis:)

I highly recommend Shay as a pet sitter. She is responsible, attentive, trustworthy, and animals seem to respond well to her calm and patient nature. Even pets that are typically shy or slow to trust often become comfortable around her more quickly than expected. She has a long history of caring for animals, is currently studying to become a veterinarian, and is deeply committed to the health and well-being of every pet she looks after. She has cared for our pets and her own, with great attention and consistency, and I always feel confident that they are safe and well cared for in her hands. She is dependable, detail-oriented, and takes her responsibilities seriously. We regularly recommend her to friends or family looking for someone who will provide reliable and attentive care for their pets.

Schedule

I'm currently home for the summer, so I have a very flexible schedule and can dedicate plenty of time and attention to the pets in my care. Aside from occasional appointments and errands, I'm home throughout the day. Caring for animals is already a part of my daily routine, as I have pets of my own with established care schedules. Adding your pet into that routine allows me to provide consistent feeding, potty breaks, playtime, exercise, medication (if needed), and plenty of companionship. I always work to maintain your pet's normal routine as closely as possible so they feel safe and comfortable while you're away.

Safety, trust & environment

Your pet's safety, comfort, and well-being are always my top priorities. I take the time to learn each pet's routine, personality, medical needs, and any household rules so I can provide care that's both safe and consistent. In my home, I maintain a clean, pet-friendly environment and closely supervise interactions. I carefully introduce new situations at each pet's comfort level and never leave animals in unsafe situations. When caring for pets in a client's home, I treat both the home and the animals with the same respect and care I would expect for my own. I follow feeding schedules, medication instructions, exercise routines, and any specific care requests exactly as directed. I also provide regular updates with photos so you can have peace of mind while you're away. As a pre-veterinary student, I'm attentive to changes in an animal's behavior or health and won't hesitate to contact you—and, if necessary, seek veterinary care—if I have concerns.

Pets

A typical day

Every pet has different needs, so I tailor my care to their routine and energy level. Whether your pet enjoys long walks, playtime, enrichment games, or simply relaxing with company, I'll make sure they get plenty of attention, exercise, and affection. I'm happy to stick to your normal schedule for feeding, potty breaks, medications, and bedtime to help your pet feel comfortable while you're away.

I like to learn as much as possible about every pet before their stay or visit. Please tell me about their routine, medical history, medications, allergies, triggers, training cues, and anything else that helps them feel safe and comfortable. As a pre-veterinary student, I know that small details can make a big difference in providing the best possible care.
