BOARDING DROP OFFS AND PICKUPS MUST BE DONE AFTER 4:30pm MONDAY-FRIDAY or ANYTIME SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. Holidays and summer may differ - can always ask! Drop-in and walking is available Monday, Thursday and Friday evenings. Saturday and Sunday is open availability. * for those that have a dog with severe anxiety that cannot be left alone, we may be able to discuss the possibility of me bringing your dog to work with me if boarding is during the week. Safety, trust & environment

I’m well aware of the stress it causes our beloved pets when their owner is away or they’re in a new environment so I want to do my best to be sure they feel safe and they trust me! I want the environment to feel like home as much as possible for them so I will accommodate as much as I can to what they are used to. If your dog is crated at home then I will follow that same routine, if you do not allow your animals on your furniture in your own home, then I will restrict them in my home as well if those are your wishes and if your dog is allowed on the bed and if they want to snuggle right next to me at night, then they are going to be able to do so! Unfortunately, I do not have a yard so all dogs will be on a leash and walked. However, the positive of this is that you know, your dog will never be left outside alone!

Information Shawna M. would like to know about your pet

Communication is key to make everybody happy! If you know, your animal has certain behaviors, it’s best to be honest so that I can be prepared ahead of time and know what to expect! If there’s any keywords you use such as “stay” or “off” let me know and I will do my best to communicate with your pet the same way as you do!

A typical day

This is all new to me so I’m not sure what to expect! So I definitely will update this as time goes on! At my home I have plenty of toys for cats! With dogs if we’re not out walking, we will find what interests them and go from there!

Dog & Cat Mom to the rescue!

Pet care experience

I got my first dog when I was two years old and always had a family dog. Then when I moved out at 18 I got cats, which one passed to FIP at an early age! Then I joined an animal rescue in 2015 and together with my son we fostered around 50 dogs over the few years! My son was only five years old when we began fostering, and he was quickly known as the dog whisperer! All dogs seem to love him! Our first foster was a Rottweiler, our last was a Pitt mix, along the way had a Chihuahua Mix mom with 3 day old babies, shepherd mix pups with Parvo (who survived), deaf Bull Terrier, hound mix with 3 legs and everything else in between! As a foster parent it was my responsibility to begin training the puppies from potty training to socializing. A lot of the adult dogs had issues with socializing and manners. Some of them had never even played with a toy before and others didn’t know how to trust people. I had to be a leader, show them love so that they could be adopted and live a successful, happy life. Over the years, I’ve always dogsat for friends, family and coworkers! At home we currently have an 11-year-old male Chihuahua who is our “ foster failure” and recently adopted female cat who is very loved aka spoiled rotten! I understand how stressful it can be when you want to travel or get away even for one night or you’re running late from work and can’t make it home before an appointment and things get stressful trying to find accommodations for your animals! Hopefully I can help even if it’s one single person!! Just like fostering… it’s a rewarding feeling and makes you feel good to help others!!

Shawna was great. She took Panda last minute due to another sitter backing out without notice. She kept us updated on everything Panda. He looked so happy in the pics. Whenever we need a sitter we know where to go.

We met through the animal rescue we adopted our dog from. Shawna was the foster mom and she was very comforting when we met. She wasn't going to let her foster dog go to just anyone. She was very honest and open. You could tell she took good care of her and it was hard for her to let her go! We promised to keep in touch so we've had her dogsit and stop by our house in an emergency!

Shawna has been our go to if she's available to watch our dog, Midnight. He's always so excited to see her so we know he's in good hands when we're away and it eases our mind!

I have a dog and two cats and when I go on vacation I always have family to watch my dog but no one is interested in watching my cats! Thankfully I found Shawna! Who knew my shy cat would actually come out and greet her and let her pet her! I had asked Shawna to just stop in to clean the litter box and make sure there was food and water but she always stayed longer to keep them company. It wasn't asked for but it shows she cares about the pets! I know I can always trust my kitties are being taken cared for when I am away!
