I am highly attentive, energetic and will spend quality time actively walking, playing, getting outside or simply hanging-out/engaging with your dogs or cats. I am a huge dog lover and I enjoy walking which I tend to do a lot in my Washington Park West & East neighborhoods, Wash Park itself, as well as around the Denver Country Club neighborhood, North Cherry Creek and the Belcaro areas. I like to be outside and I walk often to get fresh air, clear my mind, get exercise and greet all manners of four legged friends along the way. All of these neighborhoods have lots of old growth wonderful trees for shade, and they are quiet and calming. I rarely meet a dog that I don’t say “hi” too… with owner’s permission of course. It makes my day when I get to meet lovely, friendly people and their equally lovely, friendly dogs. If you choose me as your dog-walker/ in-home sitter you won’t be disappointed nor will your happy four legged fluff-balls. I will give them the attention they deserve in your absence and keep them occupied, happy, content and well cared for. Let me know what your needs are for your animals and I will accommodate… some pets just like a person to be around or to be petted, others crave outdoor activity, some like playdates with their furry friends. Dog sitting doesn’t mean we sit at home, if your dogs like walks then they will get walked, not just fed and watered. I have cared for multiple friends pets in the past and I recognize all pets have different needs, and the best part of all is that dogs and cats naturally make me happy and always put a smile on my face. I will be adding some testimonials from friends for whom I have dog sat numerous times… all my pictures are of friends dogs and myself either doing active hikes, bikes or walks or just spending quality time appreciating good company. Some of these pictures are a bit older, and I no longer have facial hair and seldom wear a ball cap. I have lived in North West Washington Park for 20 years and I have worked previously at REI, Janus Henderson, TIAA Cref, Allstate Insurance and the United States Postal Service, so I have solid trustworthy credentials and reputation as these companies with exception of REI and Allstate do a very extensive background check. Meet-ups with you and your pet are preferred if possible. I am good with puppies to older dogs, and always enjoy both. Most dogs, cats and animals seem to gravitate toward me, but not all. I consider it an honor when they do.

Safety, trust & environment
Because it is stressful enough for most pets to be without their owners/ parents, I find it much more suitable to pet-sit in your home with familiar settings and readily accessible pet food, pet snacks and pet toys. It gives your pet stability, familiarity and comfort and it creates less work, less confusion and more control for both you and your dog or cat. No need for you to load up all their food, crates, toys, leashes, collars, blankets etc… and worry about making a drop off or pick-up. I come to you and take care of your pets in the comfort of their own and of course your own home and environment, this allows them to relax and reduces separation anxiety, and the added stress of being suddenly and quickly dropped off into completely new and very unfamiliar surroundings. When caring for pets, each and every dog or cat has their own unique personality. Their needs vary, so I like to ask questions and get a good feel for your dog or cat by asking you what they love best, and what your expectations are as well. Some dogs/ cats enjoy lots of attention, some do not, but they still may like the presence of a human who they trust. If they are older, or if weather does not cooperate (i.e. intense/ unsafe heat or fire-smoke) I will always err on the side of cautions and respect for your animal(s) and make wise decisions, alternate plans, sometimes sitting, playing inside, trying to stimulate their minds, by letting them discover new smells/ scents and or socializing. High heat can be worked around with dog booties, plenty of water and cooling bandanas, towels or tee-shirts along with close observation/ monitoring or reduced physical activity. It is just as healthy and very good for dogs to literally “stop and smell the roses”, as it is for them to walk briskly for 1/2 hour or 2 hours or more. Stopping and checking things out and being curious gets their minds working as they try to piece together a picture of what the scent may be, or if it seems familiar already.

My pets love Shawn. He has house-sat for us several times, and the cats and dog all get excited when he shows up. He plays with them, walks the legs off the dog and will throw a ball or a stick all afternoon if needed. He genuinely cares for animals, is empathetic to their needs, and says 'hi' to every animal he meets. He would be a fantastic dog walker! I wish he lived closer.
Shawn has watched our dogs for years. My wife and I have had five dogs over the last twenty-five years. Every single one of our dogs has loved Shawn. When we go out of town, Shawn is our first call. When he is watching our dogs, we can vacation with complete peace of mind knowing they were in such good hands. He is dependable, responsible, and cares about our dogs as if they were his own.
Shawn is amazing with dogs! She absolutely loves seeing him show up at the house, and Shawn has walked him a bunch of times of the past 10 years. My dog can sometimes be a bit difficult with other dogs, but I've never had a worry with Shawn walking her.
Shawn is an excellent caretaker and lover of all animals. Although he loves dogs the best he took good, detailed care of our rabbit Biscuit! Gave us updates and upon return all was in clean and tidy. G and Ryan T.

Schedule
At the moment I am between careers and I am 100% available full time for all pet sitting and pet walking duties. This means I have time in the evening, early to mid-mornings, afternoons and weekends. I am committed to you and your pets and there is the possibility that I may like this so much that I have no need to pursue other endeavors. I am fully dedicated to taking care of your pets needs and I will communicate any long-term changes in my status well in advance. I am very flexible at this time being NEW to Rover, and I am 100% able to work around your schedule. I have full weekend availability with exception to a few pre determined trips for hiking/ mountain biking and road biking, these will be very few and far between. I know being available as often as possible can be helpful as lots of people who own pets love to get out of town and want to make sure their pets are well looked after if they are unable to go with them, so I myself will only block out the few times I have prior commitments and I assure you I will communicate well in advance and be professional.
