Safety, trust & environment

I learn about and carefully follow the pet owner's instructions. I show the animals love, affection and respect and make sure all their needs are met.

Information Sharon L. would like to know about your pet

It is important that I know of any issues with the dog's health or behaviour, so I can tailor their exercise and games to their physical ability, and make sure I don't put them in situations which they find overwhelming or frightening, or where they may overwhelm or frighten other dogs. Very important that I know of any allergies or particular likes or dislikes so I can keep them safe and happy.

A typical day

I tailor the day to the individual needs and preferences of the dogs (or cats). Play, walk, hide things for them to find, play fetch or tuggy, or just let them potter and sniff, depends on their age and preferences. I can maintain or evolve the training they have already received, with respect for the owner's preferred ways of doing things.

Pet care experience

I have had my own dogs for over 40 years. My last old darling dog has recently passed away. I grew up with cats, I had my own horse for 10 years, I also kept chickens and ducks for about 20 years. Recent house/dog cat sitting experience includes a wonderful Flatcoat Retriever who needed eye drops 3x per day, we looked after the house, the 2 dogs, the chickens and the cat here. We are currently looking after a very sweet labrador who suffers from epilepsy and needs important medications every 12 hours. Last summer I also looked after a house and 2 guinea pigs, one of whom needed wound care daily. I am a qualified dog trainer, and have lots of experience in training the sport of agility. I only use kind, reward based methods, and my pledge to the dogs I train is that I will never frighten or hurt them in the name of training. I am very fond of houseplants, and will certainly take care of those too. Also happy to water plants in the garden if needed. Oh yes, I also used to keep tropical fish, and have had koi carp too. My son used to have a corn snake and a python (?) so I am OK with those, but not an expert! Not much experience with farm animals, but did feed a little orphan lamb for a friend. Have rescued a wild bird before, and managed to rear it from naked little nestling to flying adult.

Sharon was fantastic. She sent us photos and videos everyday of our holiday to show us how Teddy - our wired haired fox terrier - was doing. He looked really happy. Furthermore, Sharon’s expertise - she is a qualified dog trainer- allowed her to teach him To go into his basket when anyone was about to leave to help stop his anxiety. The house was immaculate on our return and Teddy was so pleased to see us but clearly hadn’t been upset whilst we were away. We cannot recommend Sharon highly enough. She was the perfect dog sitter- A Mary Poppins for dogs.

Sharon was wonderful. We came home to a very settled pack of animals and a spotless house. Great communication and we felt that we trusted her with them instantly.

We are so happy that Sharon looked after our dog Wilf. Wilf has needs - he is severely epileptic and needs monitoring and medication, plus he doesn’t sleep through the night. We had complete confidence in Sharon the whole time we were away - she got the measure of Wilf very quickly and we felt that she treated him as if he was her own dog. I cannot recommend Sharon highly enough!

Sharon is reliable, responsible, calm and patient. She is a massive animal-lover of all animals and is both experienced with and knowledgeable about dogs, cats, horses and all small animals and pets. She would give them every attention and nothing would be too much trouble. She is completely trustworthy and has loads of common sense. Would 100% recommend.
