Pet care experience
Born a dog person and they know it!
Yup! I am a true dog person and have loved and taken care of doggies since I can remember. I absolutely adore and appreciate their individual personalities. And, I think they can feel that, because they instantly gravitate toward me. I have experience with all ages from puppies to senior care. My husband (who is also a dog person) and I have a lovely home with a pool and fenced in yard. We are now empty nesters who still have a lot of love to give. I really enjoy taking care of friends and family’s pets when they are away so extending that to others seems very fitting. I know how stressful travel can be for pets and pet parents, so having a comfy, clean, stress free home away from home is important. When your doggie is here, they are part of our family and will feel comfortable and loved. I follow all your instructions, no matter how meticulous, including medication and exercise. For your doggies comfort, I request a brief meet and greet at least 24 hours prior to their stay (at no cost). That way your dog is familiar with me and their new environment, before you leave them overnight or for daycare. Also, I only care for one family’s dogs at a time (in house), however, I can do in home visits and walks. For drop-in’s and walks, I also request that we schedule a meet and greet at your home to familiarize and take me through their routine etc. Please contact me with any questions or special requests. Doggy daycare requests for more than 9 hours are available for an extended care rate of $12 per dog for up to 3 additional hours. After 12 hours, boarding rates apply. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Ratings and reviews
Sharon is a true dog person and the boys always love going to visit. She has all their favorite toys and they love to scatter them all over her house and chase each other :)

The boys loved their sleepover vacation with Sharon and Fred! They slept in their little beds right by them, got lots of loves and treats, and were relaxed and excited when I came back to get them!

Sharon is always so great with the boys; they go for walks and play with toys and nap to their heart’s content!

Sharon is a kind and attentive caregiver who loves my boys like her own.

Sharon and Fred are the best! They love my boys like their own, and the boys love them!

Sharon has always been so wonderful with the boys. They always look forward to going over!

Schedule
When your doggie is with me… in their home away from home, they become part of the family. So, their daily routine becomes part of my routine. I completely understand that every dog is different and unique, so depending on their preferences and temperament, some like to go places in the car with me while others prefer to stay at home if I need to run an errand. I try to match their routine to their home routine, so if they are used to being in their crate when they are at home alone, I will do the same. If they have a favorite bed or pillow, I will ask that you bring it with them. If they take a walk at 7 am every day, then we do too, and if they walk multiple times a day, we do so as well.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
When you visit, we will chat about your doggy’s typical routine, preferences, and any health issues, medications, special dietary needs and supplements, grooming needs etc. This will help establish a baseline of behaviors and cover any and all of your concerns. I will keep you up to date (according to your communication preferences) on how your pup is doing during their visit. Since they love it at “grandma’s house”, time typically flies for them and they are not always ready to go so soon… yes, they really love it here. Most doggies that I sit for are active and in good health but please rest assured that I do have experience with elderly dogs and all different kinds of doggie health conditions. If any health issues should arise, you will be contacted immediately. You will also have an opportunity to provide your veterinarian’s information when you come for the meet and greet. If for any reason you will not be reachable during your time away, (no cell service etc.) we will discuss any situational preferences when you visit.
A typical day
A typical day starts with a healthy breakfast and a walk around the neighborhood. We have a dog park nearby and lots of neighbors are dog owners so we can make friends easily. Our day is pretty relaxed but we do make time for play in the back yard when it is cool enough or toy time in our family room when it is hot. On weekends we like to hike on dog friendly trails with the pups that like to hike. For pups that like to concentrate on relaxing, I am totally flexible and can adapt to their energy level. Most doggies I sit for enjoy napping in the afternoon, and we usually take another stroll after dinner. For the doggies that get energetic in the evenings, we can go to the beach in Juno and get a pup cup at the DQ on the way home. Sometimes friends and neighbors pop by to say hello and are always excited to meet our newest family member. Late evenings we have cuddle time on the couch and may watch tv or listen to music. Every dog is an individual and so is their experience.
