Smooshy Faced Dog Specialist
Does Your Smooshy-Faced Baby Need a Getaway? I think dogs enjoy their getaways just as much as we do. At least the 150+ wonderful dogs I've cared for over the years certainly seemed to! :) I know how much you worry when you have to leave your baby behind. Whether you're taking a long vacation, enjoying a weekend away, or need someone for the night, it's hard to relax when you're wondering if your furry family member is happy, comfortable, and getting enough love. Believe me, I understand. I'm one of those overprotective dog moms myself! After years of pet sitting, I took a break to have my two beautiful girls and return to college. Now that I've graduated, I'm excited to open my home to four-legged guests again! This time around, I've decided to focus on the dogs who have always had a special place in my heart: smooshy-faced breeds and Dachshunds. I love their big personalities, funny little quirks, and everything that makes them so wonderfully unique. A Little About Me I've been owned by English Bulldogs since 1999 and French Bulldogs since 2007. Yes, I said owned! Anyone who has ever loved a bulldog knows exactly what I mean. :) It all started with English Bulldogs, and in 2007, Frenchies completely stole my heart. I've spent more than 25 years loving, rescuing, fostering, and caring for these funny, stubborn, snorting, snoring little characters. I honestly can't imagine my life without them. My love for animals started long before that. I grew up in the country surrounded by dogs, cats, strays, and all kinds of farm animals. It was a little slice of heaven, and I never outgrew that love. Over the years, I've cared for dogs with all sorts of personalities, quirks, and special needs. I've loved seniors who preferred a good nap over just about anything, anxious little souls who needed extra reassurance, and happy-go-lucky babies who never met a stranger. I'm also Fear Free Certified and a member of the Pet Professional Guild. I've studied canine behavior, and I'm genuinely passionate about learning how dogs think, communicate, and experience the world. I'm always eager to learn more! I believe dogs deserve patience, kindness, and respect. I pay close attention to their body language, comfort levels, and individual personalities so every dog in my care feels safe and understood. Some dogs need a little extra reassurance, some need time and space to settle in, and others are ready to become your best friend in about three seconds. :) I've learned that every dog is different, and getting to know those little differences is one of my favorite parts of pet sitting. After all, I believe understanding dogs is just as important as loving them. One Guest Family at a Time I only board one guest family at a time. That means your baby won't be sharing their vacation with a house full of unfamiliar boarding dogs. I want to get to know your dog. What makes them happy? Where do they like to sleep? Do they have a favorite toy? Are they a professional couch potato, a champion snuggler, or the kind who follows you everywhere, including the bathroom? Those little things matter to me. Our home is a family home, complete with my two children and our own dogs. To make sure everyone feels happy and comfortable, we'll arrange a meet-and-greet before your baby's first stay. I welcome French Bulldogs, English Bulldogs, Pugs, Boston Terriers, other compatible brachycephalic breeds, and Dachshunds. I'm especially mindful of flat-faced dogs' needs, including their sensitivity to heat, breathing difficulties, and exercise tolerance. I also understand that Dachshunds need thoughtful handling and care to protect their backs. I treat every guest as an individual, with their comfort and safety always coming first. Spoiled? Maybe Just a Little! My dogs have always been my world, and when your baby stays with me, I want them to feel like family. There will be plenty of love, attention, snuggles, comfy places to nap, and playtime suited to your dog's needs. I'll do my best to keep their familiar routines, follow your care instructions, and make their stay feel as much like home as possible. And yes, I'll send you pictures and updates! I'm a professional pet photographer, so there's a pretty good chance your baby will end up having their own little vacation photo shoot. I can't help myself. :) I know what it's like to check your phone while you're away, hoping for a picture or a little update. I want you to enjoy your getaway, too, without wondering how your baby is doing. Why These Little Dogs? Because they have my heart. There's just something about their enormous personalities, stubborn streaks, funny habits, and the way they can look at you like you're their entire world. They've brought me more joy, laughter, comfort, and unconditional love than I could ever put into words. I know yours means just as much to you. So, if your smooshy-faced baby or beloved little Dachshund needs a getaway, I'd love to meet you both. Tell me all about your little one, including their quirks, favorite things, and anything that makes them extra special. I hope to hear from you soon! Hugs and snorts, Sharon 🐾

Ratings and reviews
Sharon took great care of Dale. Dale gets upset when I leave him, but she did everything she could to make him feel comfortable. Including taking him on car rides to calm him down. She has a nice fenced in yard for the dogs to play in and she was very accommodating with an early morning drop off (6:20am). I would highly recommend having her watch your dog. If was evident that she has a lot of experience with many different types of dogs and different behaviors as well. Dale is fast asleep on the couch after 4 days of fun!
Absolutely one of the top three we have used if not the top. I knew in the first 2 minutes that Sharon loves what she does and offers so much love and attention to our girls. The home was clean and well kept, room for our big labs Inside and out, communication always prompt from booking until pick up. She took the dogs out hiking and what’s most important for us, she did not sit for multiple dogs while cari g for ours like some who are truly in this for the money. Great AAA experience!

We were staying in Asheville for a Month and needed to find a sitter we felt comfortable with. We hit the jackpot with Sharon. Lily had an amazing time hanging out with Sharon and her husband and Magnolia the french bulldog. Lily, got to sunbathe and take hikes. I only wish Sharon was in Michigan where we live. But we will definitely bring Lily back when we visit Asheville again. Thanks for treating Lily like family.

Sharon is absolutely wonderful! She is so loving and caring...my husband and I felt so secure leaving our 6 1/2 pound poodle with her. She sent us updates and pictures the entire time he was with her.

Sharon, is the perfect, caring dog sitter. I loved that she sent us pictures during the weekend to let us know how our little Scout was doing. Our dog was so happy when we picked him up, we could tell he had a great time. Thank you again for the excellent service! Sara and Reed
We have found the perfect dog sitter! Can’t say enough about Sharon. House is very dog friendly with a fenced in back yard and pets allowed on the furniture and bed. Sharon took our Brussels griffons on daily walks in the woods. Even our dog who hates walks at home loved them. Sharon is kind and responsible. She sent us regular picture updates so we could see how happy our dogs were. She is home quite a lot, which our dogs love. Will definitely use her again.

Schedule
Dogs have been part of my everyday life for as long as I can remember, so caring for them isn't something I have to squeeze into my routine. They're already a big part of it! :) I work from home and have a flexible schedule, which gives me plenty of time to spend with my own dogs and any little guests staying with us. Our days revolve around the usual doggie necessities: meals, potty breaks, playtime, leisurely walks, naps, and, of course, lots of snuggles! I'm especially mindful of my smooshy-faced guests, so we take things at their pace, avoid overexertion, and make sure everyone stays comfortable and has plenty of opportunities to rest. I only welcome one guest family at a time, which allows me to give each dog plenty of personal attention while keeping their usual routines as familiar as possible. Whether your baby wants to play, explore, or snooze beside me all afternoon, there's always room in our day for a little more doggie love! :)

Safety, trust & environment
I was a dog mom long before I became a human mom! And trust me, I've always been one of those overprotective dog moms. :) I know firsthand how important it is to feel confident that your baby is safe, happy, comfortable, and loved while you're away. I want you to have that same peace of mind when your little one stays with us. Our home is a loving family environment with my two children and our own dogs. I only welcome one guest family at a time, and a meet-and-greet is required before your baby's first stay. It's important to me that everyone gets along and feels comfortable. After all, this is supposed to be a vacation for your dog, too! I'm Fear Free Certified and a member of the Pet Professional Guild. I've also studied canine behavior and believe in gentle, patient, compassionate care. I pay close attention to each dog's body language, personality, and comfort level because I believe understanding dogs is just as important as loving them. Having lived with English Bulldogs since 1999 and French Bulldogs since 2007, I'm very familiar with the special needs of brachycephalic breeds. I'm particularly mindful of heat, breathing difficulties, excitement, and physical activity. I also understand the importance of protecting my little Dachshund guests' backs and avoiding unnecessary jumping. I do my best to maintain each dog's familiar routines, including feeding schedules, medications, potty breaks, and bedtime habits. Everyone has opportunities for quiet time, comfortable places to relax, and plenty of affection. And because I know what it's like to check your phone a dozen times while you're away, hoping for a picture of your baby, you can expect photos and updates throughout their stay. As a professional pet photographer, I might even get a little carried away with the pictures! :) Above all, I want your dog to feel like part of our family and for you to enjoy your time away knowing your precious little one is in loving hands.

A typical day
Living in the beautiful mountains of Asheville, we have some wonderful places to explore right outside our front door! The Blue Ridge Parkway is less than a five-minute walk from our house, and our neighborhood trails connect to the Mountains-to-Sea Trail. We're also Biltmore passholders, with the estate just 2.5 miles from home, and members of the North Carolina Arboretum, where we love to walk. Of course, not every dog wants to be a mountain explorer, especially my beloved smooshy-faced breeds! :) A typical day starts with potty breaks, breakfast, and plenty of morning attention. Depending on the weather and your dog's needs, we might enjoy a leisurely sniffing walk, some playtime, or simply hanging out together. Having lived with bulldogs for more than 25 years, I know that sometimes the best vacation involves a little exploring, a good belly rub, and a long nap in a comfy spot. And believe me, bulldogs have perfected the art of napping! I love getting to know what makes each dog happy. Some are curious little explorers, some love their toys, and others just want to follow me everywhere and supervise my every move. Whatever their personality, there's always time for snuggles, attention, and a little fun. I'm especially mindful of heat, breathing, and exercise when caring for brachycephalic breeds. I'm also careful to protect my Dachshund guests' backs. Any adventures away from home would depend on your permission, your dog's comfort and health, the weather, and whether dogs are permitted at the destination. And since I'm a professional pet photographer, don't be surprised if your baby gets their very own vacation photo shoot! I can't help myself. :) Whether your dog is an adventurous explorer or a professional couch potato, my goal is simple: a safe, happy, relaxing getaway filled with love, attention, and maybe just a little spoiling!

- Tell me everything about your baby! The more you tell me, the better I can make their getaway feel like home. :) What's their personality like? Are they a snuggler, a couch potato, a little shadow who follows you everywhere, or a mischievous troublemaker? Do they have a favorite toy, special bedtime routine, or something that makes them especially happy? I'm also interested in their health history, including allergies, medications, breathing concerns, previous surgeries, mobility limitations, and any special care instructions. Since I specialize in smooshy-faced breeds, it's particularly important for me to understand any breathing difficulties, heat sensitivity, or exercise restrictions. For Dachshunds, I'd love to know about any history of back or spinal problems. Please let me know how your dog gets along with other dogs and children, whether they experience separation anxiety, and if there's anything that frightens or upsets them. Are they house-trained? Do they have any food sensitivities or resource-guarding behaviors? Are there situations we should avoid? And please don't be embarrassed to tell me about their quirks! I've lived with bulldogs since 1999 and Frenchies since 2007. Trust me, I've seen plenty. :) Because we have children and resident dogs, a meet-and-greet is required before accepting new guests. I want to make sure everyone is comfortable and that my home is the right fit for your little one. Most importantly, tell me what makes your baby feel loved and secure. I know how precious they are to you, and I want you to feel completely comfortable leaving them in my care.
