Pet care experience
A happy day with wagging tails
Hi, I’m Shara! I’m in grad school to be a Nurse Midwife, and love going on walk breaks… so I’m on the search for a walking budding (hopefully with your furry friend). I’ve spent time dog sitting and doing overnight stays, and I enjoy getting outside for walks, playtime, and tail wags. Whether your young pup is full of energy or your older pup likes slow walks under the shade, I’m happy to match their pace (and personality!). With my caregiving background, I’m comfortable handling any medications or special care needs your dog might have. If you have any house rules/training you would like me to maintain, then I’d love to enforce them. It’s important to trust the person caring for your pet, and I take that responsibility seriously, please let me know how I can best take care of your pet and have fun along the way!
Qualifications
Safety, trust & environment
In my home, we do not have a fence but a big backyard on almost an acre of land. My family and I love being outside and taking our daily walks. We’ve taken care of family friends pets at our home, and now expanding to Rover.
Ratings and reviews
Shara was the best pet sitter we could have asked for. We could tell she treated our pets like we would have, and they were more comfortable when we came back home because of it. She watched our dog and two cats for two full weeks while we were traveling. She was very accommodating even with last minute adjustments and coordination with others. One of our cats can take weeks to warm up to people, and he warmed up to her in two days. She sent pictures and videos of our pets every day, showing they all got treats, playtime, snuggles, and long adventures for our energetic golden retriever. Her regular updates and consideration for our pets made us feel confident throughout our vacation and is why we'll be going back to her in the future. I could tell they were spoiled while we were gone, but I didn't realize Shara would be giving us that same treatment. We returned home from a long trip exhausted, and she had washed our towels and sheets, put them on the bed for us, and she had left the home cleaner for us than we left it for her. She's the best, and I know our pets and us can't wait to see her again.

Shara came and stayed the weekend with my dog and cat. She is very professional, prompt, sent videos with updates, and overall did an excellent job. It was my first time using Rover and my first time with Shara. I would highly recommend her.

I cannot recommend Shara enough! She watched our dog Mason in our home for 4 nights and exceeded our expectations. Even as first time Rover users, we had such peace of mind on our vacation. Shara is very professional and has such a warm and friendly demeanor. Every evening, Shara sent us an update with photos and videos from the day. Our dog Mason was spoiled rotten with daily walks, hikes, and lots of snuggles! Shara had no problem administering Mason’s twice daily medication or following our routines for him. She left our house spotless and even shared some tomatoes from her garden with us when we got back! We felt very comfortable having Shara in our home, her communication was excellent, and we will definitely use her again in the future. Thanks again, Shara! 🐶

Shara just loves dogs and cats - and they love her back! When you meet her, you'll know what I mean. Just a word of caution, though: she will spoil them!
Shara is timely, friendly, and very communicative. She is great with all animals. My guinea pigs loved her and now my dog adores her! Highly recommend Shara for all pet care needs.
Shara has taken care of my incredibly picky parrot. Parrots are notoriously difficult to care for—they're moody, have big personalities, are wildly particular, and can attack and bite like the little feral feather demons they are. They require constant social attention and detailed care, and even seemingly harmless things common in human households—like scents, sprays, candles, Teflon cookware, or ceiling fans—can be dangerous. Caring for a bird means adjusting your behavior and environment with extreme caution. My parrot also is epileptic which entails more special attention and care for when he has his seizures. Despite his mood swings and attitude, he can also be one of the most cuddly and loving creatures. But that level of affection is expert-level difficult to achieve. It takes finesse, patience, time, and, frankly, usually being the “right” gender. (He hates women.) Against the odds, Shara—multiple times, including one 3.5 week long stint—took care of him. She paid close attention to every detail of his likes and dislikes, understood all the nuances of caring a parrot, and more impressively, won him over. She is trustworthy, communicative, and brave—braving the occasional bite from his plier mouth and still managing to gain his affection. After just a few days, he was cuddling up to her like I didn’t even exist. 10/10 would recommend. If she were still in our city, she'd be our first go-to human for the feather demon.
Calendar and availability
Schedule
I’m in grad school now and taking classes, that means my hours can be flexible. If given enough notice I can make myself available for boarding or sitting, because having a furry study buddy makes things better!
- 0 to 15 lbs16 to 40 lbs41 to 100 lbsover 101 lbsShara can host up to 1 pet per night
- I’m really an animal lover, but I have most of my experience with dogs (although I’ve taken care of a cat, bird, guinea pigs, and a hedgehog here and there!) I love all dogs, but if your furry friend sheds a lot I’ll have to check with my family before boarding at my house. I look forward to meeting your pup!
