HIGHLY RECOMMEND I struggled to find the right dog walker until I met Shannon, and she has been incredible ever since. She consistently shows genuine care for my pup while I’m at work, giving me complete peace of mind knowing he’s in good hands. When my pup had a little health scare, Shannon even offered to stop by and check on him, which meant so much—it showed how much she truly cares. Shannon goes above and beyond: she makes sure your pup is well cared for, keeps you updated, and handles everything so that when you get home, you can simply enjoy cuddling with your furry friend. She’s very communicative, flexible, and attentive—feeding him, monitoring his health, and letting me know right away if anything unusual comes up so we can address it quickly. Overall, I highly recommend Shannon as a dog walker or sitter. She’s knowledgeable about dogs, attentive to their needs, and ensures they’re comfortable and happy!

We booked Shannon for 2 nights of care for our two dogs. Unfortunately, the experience ended disappointingly. Before the start of the booking, we reached out on Thursday to confirm timing and expectations (begin at 3:30 pm Friday, with a TBD end Sunday, though the reservation extended to 11:30 pm on Rover). Communication seemed fine initially. Updates during the stay were minimal. We received one photo of one dog on Saturday; the other wasn’t mentioned until I asked, and even then, there was no photo—surprising for in-home care. On Sunday, Shannon asked our ETA, and we shared that it was 5 pm. She asked to leave by 3 pm, due to a personal obligation. We said "yes," yet had concerns, so we returned early and had neighbors check in on our house. They reported no one was present for several hours. A truck arrived just before 3 pm, with the sitter going inside, and the driver remained in the truck with it idling. We got home minutes later. Despite this, Shannon claimed she'd been there all afternoon and was just getting ready to leave. One dog immediately relieved itself after she left, suggesting they hadn’t been let out for a while. The lack of updates, inconsistent timeline, and questionable honesty left us uncomfortable. We won’t book again.

Safety, trust & environment

I understand that each pet has their own unique personality, schedule, and specific needs. That's why I take the time to get to know your pet and adhere to their routine. Whether it's feeding them at specific times, administering medication, or taking them on their favorite walking route, I will make sure your pet is comfortable and happy. As a pet owner myself, I know how much pets mean to us. That's why I promise to provide the same level of care and attention to your pet as I would to my own. You can trust that your furry friend will be in good hands with me.

Pets

A typical day

As a pet sitter, I like to ensure that the dogs I watch have a fun and engaging experience. Some of the activities I like to do with the dogs include playing fetch, going for walks, and exploring new places. When it comes to walks, I always try to find new and exciting places to take the dogs. Whether it's a nearby trail or a scenic route around the neighborhood, I like to mix it up to keep the experience fresh and exciting for the dogs. Additionally, I always make sure to follow any specific walking preferences or requests that the owner may have for their pet.

As a pet sitter or dog walker, it's important to know as much as possible about the dog you'll be caring for ahead of time. This includes information about their behavior, any medical conditions they may have, and their daily routine. Behavioral information can include things like whether the dog is friendly with strangers or has any specific triggers that may cause them anxiety or aggression. It's also important to know whether the dog has any specific training or commands they respond well to, as well as any bad habits they may have. Medical information is crucial to know ahead of time, as it can impact the type of care the dog needs. This includes any medications the dog is taking, any allergies or dietary restrictions they have, and any ongoing medical conditions that may require special attention. Finally, knowing the dog's daily routine can help ensure they are comfortable during their time with you. This includes things like their feeding schedule, exercise routine, and any specific habits or preferences they may have, such as where they like to sleep or which toys they prefer to play with. By having a clear understanding of the dog's needs and preferences, you can ensure they receive the best possible care while in your care.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
