Loving sitter: walks and playtime
We are a loving family with a teenage son who has a deep love for dogs. While we’re not currently in a position to have a dog of our own, he has a strong desire to spend time caring for them and giving them the attention they deserve. He is gentle, responsible, and genuinely enjoys being around animals—whether that means playing, walking, or simply keeping them company.

Shannon is one of the most caring, responsible, and dependable people I know. As a stay-at-home mom homeschooling our four kids, she does an amazing job balancing a busy schedule while still giving so much love and attention to everyone around her. She has always had a natural love for animals and treats pets with kindness, patience, and genuine care. Any pet in her care will be safe, loved, and very well looked after.
The DelPrete family—Shannon, Andrew, and all four kids—are amazing people!! Currently 3 cats are lovingly cared for as part of their family. They home-school, so are able to have a flexible schedule. Shannon and Andrew are responsible, hardworking people, and are training their kids to model that practice. I even hired their son, Porter, to care for our own cat a few months back, while my husband and I were gone for 9 days. I highly recommend them 😊
I would highly recommend Porter and his family as a pet sitter. His kindness and genuine love for animals are truly unmatched. He has had a natural affection for dogs and cats since he was very young, and animals seem to sense his gentle nature—they adore him. Porter is caring, attentive, and reliable, making him an excellent choice for anyone seeking a trustworthy and compassionate animal sitter.

Schedule
Our son is homeschooled, which means he’s home throughout the day and able to provide consistent companionship and attention to the pet. This allows for regular interaction, playtime, feeding, and supervision, helping ensure the pet feels engaged, cared for, and not left alone for long periods. His presence also makes it easier to maintain a steady routine and quickly respond to any needs the pet may have.

In our home, pets are treated like part of the family and receive plenty of attention, supervision, and care throughout the day. Because my son is homeschooled he is home often and able to provide consistent companionship, playtime, and engagement. While we don’t have a fenced backyard, we make sure pets get regular leashed walks, outdoor time, and exercise in a safe and controlled way. We also have a separate mother-in-law suite where pets can spend time comfortably with my son away from our cats. This space allows for a calm, cozy environment where they can relax, play, or have quiet time if needed. We pay close attention to each pet’s routine, including feeding schedules, exercise needs, and any special instructions from the owner, to ensure they feel secure and well cared for.

A typical day
Throughout the day, we make sure the dogs in our care are engaged, active, and comfortable. We typically start with a walk to help them burn off energy and explore their surroundings, followed by playtime. We also include time for rest, providing a cozy space where they can relax near us. When possible, we incorporate safe outdoor time or park visits for extra exercise and variety. Most importantly, we give plenty of attention, affection, and supervision throughout the day so each dog feels comfortable, cared for, and part of our family.
