Availability

I am a nurse by trade and currently work casually at the hospital so that I can primarily be a stay at home mom to my 2 year old. I have three dogs of my own and I am looking to connect and assist with more pets. I have pretty open and flexible availability to give love to every animal I am lucky enough to assist with! I work outside of the home approximately 2 days per week, so I have a pretty flexible schedule (especially if I know in advance when I'm needed). In the times I have to leave the house, there is always another adult at my house to assist if necessary. I may be available for overnight boarding even on days that it says unavailable on my calendar, please still ask if you’re interested!

Safety, trust & environment

I have two miniature dachshunds, a Great Dane mix and a very large fenced in yard. I am home the majority of the day every day and will devote my attention to your furry family. My kids are all lifelong pet lovers as well that are well versed in personal space for dogs and proper treatment. I do request that your dogs are able to go into a crate if needed, we have found that sometimes giving them a little break during the day to be alone helps them to relax. Our back yard is equipped for lots of outside play time, including multiple watering areas that are refilled and cleaned out twice a day as well as a dog tent/shade area with cooling blankets for the dogs to relax while still enjoying being outside.

Information Shannon A. would like to know about your pet

I am a nurse by background and have experience with giving oral medications to both cats and dogs if needed. I feel comfortable with most medications so just let me know what your needs are! I need to know if your pets aren't entirely house trained, crate trained or if they are reactive prior to any services. It doesn't mean I won't care for them, but I just have to handle situations differently depending on the dogs needs. If your dogs don't do well around children, it would be best to do drop in visits/walks vs doggy daycare/boarding, as I have 6 kids at my house and it's wild and crazy a lot of the time.

A typical day

I love to take dogs for walks or play in the yard with them, and give lots of love and affection to each pet I care for. Our neighborhood is about 2 miles total and I generally walk it at least once a day with my Great Dane. If your dog can't handle walks that long, they can be walked with my dachshunds (they don't have legs equipped to handle 2 miles at a time). We also love to play fetch in the yard, we have multiple ball tossing mechanisms (including a nerf gun) to tire them out!

Pet care experience

I have been caring for dogs since childhood, and have had pets of my own since I was 17 years old. I love all pets, including dogs of every size. Rest assured your pets will be treated like my babies. I am also independently insured in the event that there are any unexpected issues that occur.
