Animal is family for me

I have had animals in my life for as long as I can remember. I started pet sitting when I was in grade school. My experience with animals ranged from exotic like fox, snakes, turtles, to the more common animals horses, dogs, and cats. I went to college and earned a major in Bio and a minor in equine (horses). I then did a seven month internship with horses. The past 12 years I have been working for different animal controls in MD county, and pet sitting for a local pet sitting company. I also have my own little ones. I have two personal dogs a Rottie and an old English bulldog. I have recently moved to AZ to pressue my dream of becoming a dog trainer. I am also excited to grow my animal family out here with pet sitting. Once I am settled in I will also get back into the rescue world. When I lived in MD I had worked with two amazing rescues and had the honor of fostering over a hundred different little ones ranging from 3 day old kittens to 100 plus lb mastiffs.

Our cat Jake survived a week with Shanna. He was very happy and in great spirits when we returned. I think we have found our new favorite pet sitter. 💯😺

Schedule

I do pet sitting around my full time job as a dog trainer. My job does allow for me to be a bit flexible if given enough notice. When I do overnights though I will be gone for the entire day. My leaving and arrival time for overnights will vary. I try to be as fair as I can do all my clients and make sure they are not alone for two long. Usually the dogs that handle my schedule best have indoor and outdoor access, and or already use to their owners working long hours at their jobs.

Safety, trust & environment

No one day is the same for me work hour wise due to my day job being with animals. The unplanned can always happen. I always try to make sure to take the best care of all my clients and will always do my best to offering clients clear communication if plans change from what I’d discussed at the meet and greet.

Pets

A typical day

I fit my routine and fun activities withe the clients needs. Some enjoy on long walks and socialization and others enjoy quite time in the home.

0 to 15 lbs
16 to 40 lbs
41 to 100 lbs
over 101 lbs
Dogs over 1 year old
No females in heat
Crate-trained dogs only
Takes only 1 client at a time
Shanna can host up to 1 pet per night
I like to meet all clients before the visits to make sure I am the best match. Sometimes a sitter does not click with a pet and it’s not because the animals is bad or mean or the pet sitter is bad there was just no chemist.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
