Pet care experience
You had me a woof.
I’ve taken care of dogs ever since I was kid. Major dog lover over here.I have volunteered at couple of animal shelters, and I’ve worked at a puppies store as well as my family and friends usually relied on me to watch their fur babies since I’m always home. I will not accept any American bullies. I will send updates and pictures when available. I do not FaceTime during visit. FaceTime is strictly for meet and greets.

Ratings and reviews
Honestly, not that good at all. My 3 dogs were with Shanikki for 4 days and came back in less than ideal condition. They were all bathed on 7/10, when I came to pick them up on 7/14 they all had very sticky fur and smelled very strongly of urine. My oldest dog, a 13 year old Rough Collie, came home with oozing pressure sores on her elbows and rear hocks. I specifically packed hock braces and elbow guards for her to wear during the day in the even she was lazing about to prevent this from happening. In addition, I packed a Help 'Em Up Harness with straps to aid with her mobility if she wasn't moving often or was having trouble with stairs. I do not believe any of these items were used due to them being in the same position in the bag I packed. Shanikki provided updates only when requested and never mentioned anything wrong with my Collie's elbows/hocks. This is my first time using Rover to get a dog sitter, but I believed it was common for Sitter's to communicate at least once or twice a day with the dog owners to provide updates without having to be specifically asked. Shanniki was very friendly and during the meet-and-greet listened and seemed to understand the level of care that was required for them. Clearly, however, they did receive the level of care that was discussed.

Shanikki was very fast with responding. I initially booked a few weeks prior but a family emergency came about on my end. Shanikki was quick to respond and let me book again which I really appreciated. I did let it be known that the severe heat has been negatively impacting my pit bulls stomach I provided medicine to help with that. My problem is he came back soiled in urine, and smelled really bad. He did have a bath about a week before he came so it was very upsetting to smell him as if he was laying in urine. Shanikki let me know that he was on the basement since it was cool down there, I didn’t receive any pictures, and she was VERY short with her responses. My overall experience was not as good as I’d have hoped for the Rover app, I think I’d choose a different service if I was to leave my pup again. I definitely would not be referring anyone to book with Shanikki.

My dog came back constipated, when he left he was having regular poops twice a day. He has since been unable to poop and has been straining for 10+ minutes to get a single poop out, that still does not come out. He did end up having some diarrhea all in his cage (He is potty trained and never uses the bathroom in his cage) after a full day but still cannot poop regularly. Was told he may have gotten into cat food, The sitter wasn’t really sure. Overall a bad experience for me personally dealing with a sick dog after dropping him off completely healthy is a headache. She was nice, didn’t give many updates, Overall I’m dissatisfied and would not book again.
My dog loves her!!!

Shanikki did an awesome job. She responded with my text in a timely manner. My dog looked well kept when we arrived to pick her up. I would recommend this sitter.

She was very nice and pleasant to work with. However, the space was not as clean as I expected, and I had to request photos and updates even though I was initially told they would be provided. I was also unsure whether my dog was being walked regularly, as he seemed very backed up when we picked him up and took him for a walk. He also had a few accidents in the house afterward, which is very unlike him. Better communication and more consistent updates would have improved the overall experience.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
I do live in a house with three floor, they are free to roam. There is a small fence area in the back for quick bathroom I go on daily walks in the morning. Your pup will definitely will be active and safe. I also have my own dog supplies here, plenty of toys, treats and beds. Your pups will love in here.
A typical day
A typical day would be a morning walk, then breakfast! An hour later some play time outside. After a good hour or two nap time with the kiddos. Then lunch or snack, with a walk after. Playtime in the house or free time to do whatever fur babies want. Finish the day out with dinner and at least two more walks before bed.
