Safety, trust & environment

I have a dog friendly home with fenced yards on an acreage just outside of town. There are 4 dogs living in my home, and I like to only invite others to stay with us who will be compatible so that everyone can just hang out together. However, there are options for more containment if it turns out that they aren't getting along. It all depends on what will make the dogs the most relaxed and happy.

Lives on a farm/ranch

Information Shane W. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know how your dog interacts with other dogs so that I can plan accordingly. I need to know about any medical or behavioural issues as well. Dogs should be up to date with their core vaccines and flea treatment, please discuss with me if they are not.

A typical day

We go out for walks at least twice a day to check out all the new smells in the area. We often do a little training along the way. Scent detection or just searching for treats can really relax a dog in a new situation.

Pet care experience

Mostly retired now, I have just moved to Duncan from Alberta, where I volunteered with several non profits: HART, CATF and Elderdog Canada. Elderdog requires a criminal record check since they trust people to go into the homes of elderly and disabled people in order to help out with their pets. So you can be assured that I am a trustworthy person to care for YOUR animals! I've operated a home-based dog training and boarding business for the past two decades, as well as volunteered for and managed a BCSPCA branch. I have been a certified dog trainer and have an extensive education in animal care and behaviour. Meeting new dogs is still my favourite thing, and I'd love to care for yours! Dogs are most definitely allowed on the furniture and in the bed! If your dog needs special attention such as injections, ear cleaning or anything else, just let me know and I will accomodate. I can offer training for an extra fee as time allows, please call to discuss. Extensive experience rehabilitating fearful and reactive dogs using positive reinforcement techniques.

I am glad I had a chance to meet Shane, who is obviously an animal lover. I will use her again, when my circumstances change. Thank you to Rover and to Shane.
