About Shana N.
Safety, trust & environment
I perform drop ins to take care of your cat, but I also include care for your home. I rotate lights in the evening to deter individuals that look for empty houses, and verify that everything that should be secure is secured before leaving. I carry emergency and rescue kits and cleaning supplies in case of pet messes, and believe that a clean environment is integral for our pets' health. I have a policy of finding every pet upon arrival to make sure they are safe and healthy, and confirm their location and condition before leaving. This includes the hiders! I carry a thermal camera to find those cats that hide in the tiniest parts of the house without having to blind them and stress them out by touching them.
Information Shana N. would like to know about your pet
I love notes. Multiple pages don't scare me. I need to know about medications, feeding routine and any special diet. Please have their vet information out in case of emergency, and a personal contact if you will not be able to answer a call. I like to know their fears and/or things they love, but it's not mandatory. It helps, however, because the presence of a stranger (me) is hard enough. Knowing their likes/dislikes will reduce their discomfort.
A typical day
As allowed, I enjoy making friends faster with treats, and will engage in play if the cat is willing. The laser pointer is usually the most popular. I have a radio for the lonely cats that don't deal well with the quiet. If my cat could give reviews, she would say I am excellent at ear scritches.

Pets
Cat care, including special needs.
Cat care experience
I've been around cats since age 5, and actively cared for them since being a teenager. I have worked at a cat kennel, volunteered at a shelter, and currently help community members privately with care for their cats. I am also experienced with special needs cats, can administer medication, accommodate for physical disabilities, and worked with feral or other behavioral issue cats.
Reviews
Shana's been taking care of my pets for years. I have a bird and an indoor/outdoor cat. Shana's been great with both. She visits twice a day to give them food and water and lots of love. She sends me reports and photos, which I appreciate. The bird, especially, takes a bit of effort. Shana's good with exotics. She even bathes him once a week if I'm away for a longer stretch. Shana also takes in the mail and checks on the rest of my property. I recommend Shana unreservedly.
