I am available weekends with advance notice. I can do drop-ins during the week if it does not impede my work schedule. Currently work m-f 8:30 am - 5:30pm with an hour lunch that is flexible from 11am-2pm

My dog Kibble struggles with fear reactivity so I know how to empathize with a dog on their need for space, and understand their behaviors. I believe in counter conditioning their triggers positively and also try to focus on decompression walks. I am not a licensed dog trainer, but I am an owner who tries their best to be informed! I can understand how stressful it can be to have a dog like this ask a complete stranger to watch over them and am more than happy to provide tons of communication on how things are going to provide peace of mind. I also have the other side of reactivity which is excitable reactivity where my dog Korra gets very excited and loves to jump on guests(which I discourage) and pull to what she wants, so I can handle a dog who pulls! She has made a lot of progress working on this. I love taking my dogs on walks where they can sniff to their hearts content because this really relaxes them and stimulates their mind. As for my cats, they enjoys meal time the most and her perfect routine. Cats thrive on a routine, so I know not to be late! She also loves playing with a wand toy and hiding objects under the rug. I’m more than happy to treat your animals as I treat my own and follow instructions!

Great to know things are: Favorite treat, sleeping spot, bathroom spots, toys, amount of food and feeding times, along with normal bathroom times to ensure I follow their normal routine. Any behavior to be aware of like certain spots they don't like to have touched, or if resource guarding is an issue. There is never too much you can tell me about your pet to set us up for success.
A typical day
I like to play fetch, tug, find it and various other fun dog games. If we aren't playing games, we may be walking or just relaxing on the couch!

Pet care experience
I have a special Interest in keeping up to date on the best animal care and have owned animals since I've been alive. I own two dogs, and 3 cat who I adore. I own fish, and have fostered various bird species and have knowledge on a lot of small critters needs and care instructions. Budgies, cockatiels, Indian ring neck, and conures are birds I have personal experience with. I do not own reptiles but I’m more than confident I can follow detailed instructions for care and utilize internet resources to prepare to care for them. I also am very skilled at keeping house plants alive, so I can water your plants if needed. I am well versed in dog body language and simple positive reinforcement dog training. Fear reactive dogs welcome, as I have personal experience with this type of dog since I own one. I understand the anxiety that can come with finding a sitter for this kind of dog as well and will always go at their pace.

Toodles doesn’t feel very comfortable with many people, clearly Shana has the magic touch. After the first post I was able to relax and enjoy my time away! So reassuring and made me feel at ease knowing he was fine and well taken care of! Thank you Shana!

Shana is the absolute definition of a pet lover. She puts her animals needs above her own. She is great with all animals and only wants what is best for them. Shana would hands down be a fantastic pet sitter for anyones pets.
