I have extensive experience, both personally and professionally, working with animals of all ages & sizes. These experiences have allowed me to learn and acquire a great deal of knowledge. The majority of my experience tends to be with dogs and cats, but I have worked with some amphibians & reptiles on occasion too. I'm comfortable administering medication, if needed, with specific instructions provided by owner, prior to start. I have a great deal of experience preforming first aid, in which I've acquired over the last two decades. As a detail-oriented person by nature, I'm great at following directions and thorough in asking any questions that may follow to ensure I have clarity on details. My main focus is on quality care for the pet(s). Secondarily, I prioritize household upkeep and cleanliness. Overall, I am a tidy person, who aims to aid my clients household run with ease and efficiency. All-in-all, I’d describe myself as a team player, with a multifaceted approach to animal care. It’s rooted in the appreciation of the humans who have committed to them & love them daily, and most of all- the great joy sharing time together brings to my life too! My personal mission with every pet-family is to create a bond forged in connecting individually with the animal(s) and build trust with all household members. Pets parents deeply love and care for their fur babies. This is a value that I too share and can easily related to! Therefore, I treat each animal as I would my own. Additionally- Although I’m not a certified dog trainer, I’ve successfully trained a number of dogs using a combination of training methods, by selecting the most suitable tactics to meet their individual needs, based on their current state.

Great sitter for our little prince
Shaina is so kind and patient with the pups as they got used to her for the first day or two. One of my dogs can be moody and she handled him with grace and patience until he was comfortable. Highly recommend!

Shaina did an excellent job caring for both my dog an and bird during drop-ins and an overnight stay. She was reliable, attentive, and kept me updated, which gave me great peace of mind. Highly recommend her!
Shaina is a very mindful, responsible, trustworthy and reliable individual. She is absolutely wonderful with animals, especially dogs and cats in particular. She has a true love for them. She’s very connected to animals and has often taken in strays and fosters. (She would save them all if she could. It honestly wouldn’t shock me one bit if one day she were to open up a sanctuary for animals. She cares for them so deeply.) It can be nerve wrecking and uncomfortable trusting another person to take care of your pets while you’re gone, but if there is one person I trust whole heartedly to take care of my fur babies it is definitely Shaina. Her dog GiGi is also an absolute angel. She is super sweet and very well behaved. She does great interacting with adults, children and other cats and dogs. Anyone who chooses to hire Shaina to watch over their pets will not be disappointed in my highest opinion.

Schedule
I currently work caring for animals through Rover, per request and availability. During the weekend, I work at a doggy daycare. I must say that I love dogs and cats most of all animals, but I do also enjoy many other creatures too. They each have something that makes them fascinating and fun. Additionally, I love working with young children. Before branching off to work with animals on a regular reoccurring basis, I was a nanny for 11 years. I still currently work with children, on an as needed basis with a few families for occasional care. The blend of work between both jobs has been a great experience so far! I like the balance.

When I am in a client’s home, I’m respectful of their privacy and boundaries. I am mindful of my environment and the energy I carry with me throughout the time I’m there. I value open, kind communication between the household members. I honor the commitments I’ve made, to the families who have hired me.
Pets
A typical day
I enjoy going for walks and spending time outside together, with animals that also enjoy this. Because I can easily read & match the energy of the dog(s) and cats I care for, I prioritize an appropriate, adequate amount of exercise is given. Playtime and physical touch are the keys to building trust, having fun, and to show affection between humans and animals. If requested and/or allowed, I will happily give treats, meals or bone, & fresh water can also be given at request. too during visits. Lastly, I always make an effort to incorporate activities that the pet likes to do best, as per the parents.
