Animal lover who loves all dogs!

Hi! My name is Shaakir, I am a professional dog trainer and been caring for dogs the last 15 years. Been with Rover since 2020 and absolutely love it! My goal here is to offer reliable, cost effective, and exceptional pet sitting service for you and your pup/s! I would love for my home to be considered your pets second home! :) Below is a brief FAQ list that I typically get, feel free to message me with any other questions, thank you reading and hope to see you soon! 1.) what is your overall experience with dogs in brief? I can confidently say I’ve devoted a lot of my life around dogs from owning, training, and caring from them — I’ve worked closely with a lot of rescues, shelters, and non profits for dogs from high school all the way to college undergrad. My familiarity has expanded as well with all types of breeds, ages, sizes, and energy levels — I’ve probably trained and watched over 500+ dogs and counting since 2020, so you can book with confidence as I am someone who can cultivate a great experience for you and your pet 2.) will I provide videos/photos/updates during the stay? yes, pictures, videos, and daily updates will always be sent everyday, also their steps taken, just for transparency to let you know how active they have been. Some would like daily updates and some every few days, either or I’m happy to always provide photos and videos just to ensure they’re in great hands and is having a good time under my care. I typically do 3 updates: morning, afternoon and night so you can get a scope of how they are doing throughout the whole day 3.) how many times can I take them outside for walks / potty breaks? you can expect up to 10,000+ steps a day (if needed) some dogs I understand don’t require much walking and are fine with fewer walks, but for high energy dogs I can accommodate those needs pretty easily — for older / senior dogs that don’t require that much walking, that’s where I taper it down 4.) do I offer discounts / lower pricing on longer stays? yes, I understand the app fees, sales tax, holiday fees can be a lot of extra money so id love to offer a discount especially for longer stays to help out, I am willing to accommodate and work with budgets, the quality of care will be the same and you’ll save a couple bucks as well. I typically would offer this if the stay is at least 1 week or longer as the fees and sales tax gets a little higher around that time duration — but regardless, if it’s not a week, feel free to ask me I’m always happy to accommodate 5.) do you do meet and greets? Do you charge for it? Yes, I do meet and greets and do NOT charge, I just humbly ask that the meet and greets are with intentions on booking, as they can take up a lot of time, other rover sitters charge because of that reason, but I don’t charge for meet and greets. However, if there is more candidates you’re interviewing for the booking, I would love to know 6.) can you pick my dog up or drop them off? Can you drop them off to any special appointments? Yes, no problem. feel free to request it on your booking and I can pick up and drop off no worries at all. And yes I understand your schedule can be busy while your out of town or away from your dog, if they have a grooming booked or vet visit scheduled I am more than happy to take them there 7.) do you watch multiple dogs at once? Yes and no, I do only if the profile states the dog gets along with others, had their vaccinations, and if they are fixed (female and male) usually if I can check those 3 boxes off the dogs always have a great time together. I never had any problem with watching multiple dogs and I think it’s because of that checklist, to mitigate any issues and to insure they get the proper care I only take on 4 max at a time. If there are no scheduled dogs at the time you can request your dog be alone as well and I will block out those days for him or her 8.) what separates you from other sitters? I work closely with dog brands and often can send you home with free gifts like grooming supplies and supplements / treats, you’ll mostly get a framed photo as I love capturing your pups happy moments on film! 9.) what can I expect the internal or external environment to be like? Internally, or inside the home, you can expect a very clean, safe, and cozy environment — I have weekly cleaners come and deep clean my apartment and inside I have heaters for colder days and air conditioning for hotter days. I also have air purifiers (air doctor) and fans (Dyson) to keep the air quality clean for them. Externally or outside the apartment the area is really dog friendly with stoner park, Brentwood park, Landmark Park, and many others in the area I can take them to. They will have a safe and fun time when we are inside or outside! 10.) are you ok administering medication? Yes of course! - any type of medication I can carefully administer, I understand alot of dogs have certain medications they need, for itching, for anxiety, for other health reasons - I’m happy to stay on top of their AM and PM medication schedule!

One of the kindest, most caring sitters I’ve worked with on Rover. The time he took to send pics and videos of my dog on walks and playing with the other dogs was really assuring to me that my dog was in good hands. Thanks so much Shaakir!

Shaakir was great with Astro. He took the time to meet Astro ahead of confirming the first sitting and was incredibly accommodating and very communicative throughout my trip. He looked after Astro for just over a week and when my travel plans got changed, he accommodated and helped to look after Astro for an extra night. Highly recommend Shaakir to look after your dog!

Be wary of booking with Shaakir — you may as well book with an unkempt kennel. The space your animal will be kept smells of rancid urine despite three air purifiers running, he will push for communications to take place outside of the app, and he will be misleading on what level of care he is providing. When I asked about how much my dog was being walked each day, Shaakir shared screenshots of his personal steps for the day making it seem that my dog was being walked numerous miles a day but the Tractive collar my dog wears reflected a max 1 mile per day distance. Based on photos shared, I also believe that he had someone else walking my dog at times, which was never discussed or approved. While my dog was ultimately fine, he smelled and was distressed in the week following his stay with Shaakir. We will not be booking again and recommend others proceed with caution.

He spend so much time to get to know our kids on our meet and greet and that made us feel safe and comfortable. Wonderful with our kids and sent so many photos. It was very important to us and he cared for them so well! He framed gorgeous pictures of them for us and they truly meant the world to us! We are so grateful.

Shaakir was great with my 3 dogs and cat over fourth of july weekend! One of my dogs is epileptic and requires a special diet and medication and Shaakir was excellent with her. Everything went smoothly and will be booking again. You can trust your fur babies with Shaakir.

Shaakir was the first person we had ever booked off of Rover so naturally we were a little nervous about leaving our puppy alone for the first time, but Shaakir was absolutely fantastic and we know that our dog was in great hands with him! He would always send daily photo updates so that we knew our puppy was doing well, and he was extremely responsive and accommodating to all of our requests. He even gave us a framed photo of our dog afterward! We would absolutely recommend him to others.

Schedule

I am typically up very early for the gym so I can easily schedule early walks, as I work from home, I am very flexible with time and can take them out pretty frequently as well. Working from home fortunately gives me a lot of flexibility with doing more with your pet Forsure!

Non-smoking household

Safety, trust & environment

Your pet will have a great time in the home, it’s clean, quiet, has air purifiers around, and I will have a box of toys for them as well. Outside, the area is also safe, clean, and dog friendly - with multiple parks in the area and places to walk to take them

A typical day

I know dogs love to explore so that is something I love doing with them, especially in a new environment, seeing places for the first time can be exciting for dogs so I’m always happy on talking them on multiple walks seeing multiple places of the neighborhood, especially the parks and trails near by
