Pet care experience

Dogs absolutely love me.

I have been working with dogs full-time since 2020 - walking, sitting, and reinforcement training. Throughout high school I worked at an animal hospital-and-board in Portland, Oregon. There I walked dogs, provided care for the cats and dogs such as baths, feeding, grooming, trimming nails, play, and assisting with surgeries. My partner and I have a 4-year-old McNab collie named Oz. He has maybe the best temperament of any dog I've known - he's a playful but calm when he needs to be, neither alpha nor submissive, well-trained, joyful, happy dog. We take him on adventures frequently - to the river, the beach on hikes, etc. He fully enjoys a great adventures as well as being a couch potato at home. I absolutely love animals, especially dogs. I have always connected very naturally with them - I find that animals become comfortable with me very quickly, I know how to approach them, I try to quickly learn what they do and don't like in order to make them feel comfortable.

Seth does great with my pup (and he's picky about his humans!) and was both reliable and communicative when house sitting for me.

Seth did a great job staying with Alfie in our home for five days while we were out of town. Seth is friendly, considerate, very neat, and, most importantly, he is great with dogs. Seth walked Alfie a lot and took very good care of him. Alfie was more than comfortable with him. He adores Seth. I highly recommend Seth!

Seth is a true professional who cares about the details and the well being of your puppy / dog. Despite short notice, Seth was very thorough in the communication leading up and during the sitting. He provided photos and updates on Maple’s health. Definitely recommend!

Seth has been great! Dogs loved him immediately, even my timid one warmed up relatively quick. He's also been flexible and tolerant of my changing needs when things come up.

Schedule

Pet care is my full time job. I usually have 3-6 daily midday walks with sporadic morning and evening walks throughout the week. I often bring my dog, Oz on walks with me when owners approve.

Safety, trust & environment

When boarding dogs in my home we have lots of greenspace in the surrounding area to walk in. My partner and I are runners so for higher energy dogs we can take them on runs. We have lots of comfy spaces for the dogs to lay in, including our bed if they choose.

A typical day

We live across the street from Deering Oaks, a great little 55-acre public park near downtown Portland with lots of intersecting grassy and paved paths, where we take walks often, sometimes multiple times a day. I go to beaches, rivers, forest trail hikes, dog hikes, and more. I really enjoy play with all types of dogs - I match their level of energy and play whether it be very gentle, rowdy tug of war, little dogs, big dogs, etc. I also do well shy/timid dogs.

I would like be in line with the owner's training process so I can support that process, so I would like to know which behaviors to reinforce, which commands they know, etc. I don't mind working with any specific breeds, although there are likely lots I'm unfamiliar with.
