Hello! My name is Serena, and I have a lifelong passion for caring for animals. Ever since I was brought home from the hospital, I’ve been surrounded by dogs and have always considered them part of the family. My parents adopted my soul dog, Millie, a German Shepherd featured in my photos. I took her everywhere with me, which gave me extensive experience with larger breeds as well as dogs with reactivity and unique behavioral needs. During college, I volunteered at the San Luis Obispo County Animal Shelter, where I worked closely with many large breeds, including German Shepherds, Huskies, Pit Bulls, and more. Through this experience, I became comfortable handling escape artists, reactive dogs, and pets who need extra patience and time to build trust. While most of my experience has been with dogs, I’ve also had the opportunity to care for cats in recent years and have really enjoyed learning the differences between cat and dog care. In fact, the cat distribution system chose me itself! I have a senior cat back home who decided I was her person, and she now spends her days interrupting my reading sessions whenever she feels it's time for some extra attention. Caring for her has taught me the importance of respecting a cat’s boundaries while also recognizing the unique ways they show affection and build trust. One of my favorite parts of pet care is creating enriching experiences for the animals I spend time with. I love taking pets on new adventures and excursions, whether that’s a beach day, a picnic at the park, a scenic walk, or lunch at a dog-friendly café. I enjoy keeping pets active, engaged, and happy while making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved. I understand that every pet has their own personality, routine, and needs, and I take pride in providing attentive, compassionate care tailored to each individual animal. My goal is always to make your pet feel like they’re spending time with a trusted friend while giving you peace of mind that they’re in great hands.

When caring for pets, I focus on creating a balance between maintaining their routine and providing enrichment. I make sure their basic needs are always met; meals, fresh water, potty breaks, exercise, medications (if needed), and any owner specific instructions while also incorporating activities that keep them engaged and happy. I believe mental stimulation is just as important as physical care, so I love introducing pets to new experiences when appropriate. This could be a new toy, a different walking route with exciting smells, extra playtime, or enrichment activities tailored to their personality and energy level. Building trust and a positive relationship with each pet is also a priority for me. I take the time to learn their comfort levels, communication style, and individual needs so they feel safe and secure in my care. Safety always comes first. Before any walk or outing, I make sure collars, harnesses, and leashes are properly fitted and secure. I am mindful of weather conditions, a pet's energy level, and their comfort around other animals and people. Pets will remain leashed during walks unless they are in a secure, fenced area such as a backyard or dog park, and only with the owner's approval and when I feel confident it is appropriate for that individual pet. I also make it a habit to double-check gates, doors, and other potential escape routes, especially for curious pets and known escape artists. My goal is to provide a fun, enriching, and safe experience while helping pets feel comfortable, confident, and cared for while you're away.

Serena is the ultimate trusted dog caretaker! She is one of the few people I trust to watch my dog, Kenai, because she is so kind, caring and affectionate with him. She genuinely loves being with dogs, and it shows in how happy Kenai is every time he sees her! Although Kenai has his quirks, I trust Serena fully to keep him safe while making sure he gets the mental and physical stimulation he needs. Fun, reliable, and full of years of dog knowledge—I cannot recommend her highly enough!

Schedule
’m new to San Francisco as of May 2026, but I’m no stranger to the Bay Area—I grew up in the East Bay and am excited to be exploring the city from a new perspective! Right now, I have a flexible schedule, which means plenty of time to give your pets the attention, care, and adventures they deserve. Whether it’s a long walk, a trip to the park, a beach day, or simply keeping your furry friend company, I’m always happy to spend time with animals. Getting to know new pets is one of my favorite ways to explore a community, and I genuinely enjoy every opportunity to make a new four-legged friend. Plus, any day that includes wagging tails, happy purrs, and a little fresh air is a pretty great day in my book!
