🐶Pet loving walker!🚶

Pet care experience

I love walking rain or shine and if I have a pup to go with, that makes it even better. I've had dogs my whole life--from Alaskan Huskies to terrorizing terriers! My current pup is a svelte black lab mix who's always happy.

Our dog had a great experience with Scott! He was communicative and friendly and provided good care to our senior dog while were on vacation.

Scott is reliable, communicative, and our dog always has the best time staying with him. Scott’s frequent photos, and knowing that he cares for our dog like his own really allows us to relax when we are away. Thanks, Scott, for taking the best care of our bud!

Safety, trust & environment

Being responsible and kind is important. Praising a dog makes them happy and better on the leash. Sensing what your pet wants is important--a year old "teenager" has different needs to a 15 year old "grandparent". My dog Dexter is extremely friendly and playful and loves to have company over too

Walking; any special requirements such as sit at each curb, keep the leash close, or only on my right side? Also how are they when they see other mammals from humans to rabbits!

A typical day

I like to go for walks in the quiet streets and neighborhood parks. Dog parks if they are close by and I've been given the OK and assured your dog will come right back to me. Usually a few leash only walks are needed to get the bond between us good first though. For stay overs we're pretty selective - Dexter loves to play but we'd prefer the yard to not be totally destroyed so a medium or smaller pup who likes big dogs is great. As is a chill older big guy. Let's meet and see what happens first! Most times Dexter and his guest will play outside for about half an hour, wear themselves out, and then sleep for the next 4 or 5 hours. Then repeat again in the late afternoon. Our other need is for your dog to be relaxed. High energy and collapse on the bed is great. High or low energy but unable to switch off isn't (pacing, scurrying about, shaking, always watching--in effect just unable to relax). That makes Dexter uncomfortable which is sad in his own house! This isn't a business for me so I can't take special needs dogs; ones that need additional health/age care, aren't really social, need constant attention, and so forth. I do leave the house for up to four hours sometimes.

I work part time from home so can juggle most anything into my schedule. I'm a morning person so a 6am walk is not a problem if needed. Likewise, at the other end of the day I can't accept anything that ends after 6pm.
